Early time, I still see if dry in Q3 a pole by Ferrari by at least 0,2-0,3 s.bonjon1979 wrote: ↑11 May 2018, 12:18The merc looks quick. I was always felt that once we get back to the higher temps of the european season they'd suddenly come alive. It's really not great that the other teams haven't been able to capitalise on Mercs early form. Hamilton's leading the championship despite having a terrible time of it. If these warmer temps mean the car is hooked up for the rest of the season, we could lose the great competition we looked like having.
Merc, Ferrari and redbull all look solid onbord. Sure, merc is well ahead - as they were on Friday in China and Baku (I believe?)bonjon1979 wrote: ↑11 May 2018, 12:18The merc looks quick. Yeah, Mercedes was well ahead after FP1 in both races mentioned, but when FP2 comes, somehow the gap is closing until they are not the fastest car anymore.JPBD1990 wrote: ↑11 May 2018, 12:52Merc, Ferrari and redbull all look solid onbord. It’s anyones game at the moment. Ferrari usually turn the engine on from Saturday onwards, so I see it being as close as ever.
I’m also always very cautious to call it after one session. Ferrari fans (of which I am one) have a terrible reputation for this. They’re a second behind Mercedes - THE RACE IS OVER THE CHAMPIONSHIP IS LOST FIRE EVERYONE...
But the 0.035 in Baku was between Mercedes and redbull. Ferrari were nowhere.matt_b wrote: ↑11 May 2018, 13:31Mercedes were not well ahead in China and Baku FP1 that gaps were just 0.351 and 0.035 respectively. This session on the same tyre (soft) that gap was a massive 1.7 seconds before Ferrari bolted on the SS and brought it down to 0.950. It will come down more FP2 and the order might swap but its definitely different than the previous few races so far.
This sounds strange, because Mercedes has been always good with colder temperatures, not the opposite. And Ferrari has always liked high temperatures.bonjon1979 wrote: ↑11 May 2018, 12:18The merc looks quick.
