When Mclaren is dress in full DF on a FULL DF track with fast corners, it's in it's most favorable element. The numbers don't lie, look at how well they do at all the high DF tracks.

It's the opposite of some cars, I could name a couple but will not, that can't get their DF to work in high DF mode.
Alonso wasn't running the high DF rear wing.

Yeah I noticed that, don't know what that's about. They're also running the 2017 FW ...I read the 2018 wings will not be ready till tomorrow. It's still a high DF track.

Yeah, except not exactly when correlation is off. You can test all the parts in the world, but if then the correlation is still wrong you're still going the wrong way.

Interestingly enough, we sussed it out in the 2017 car thread that they lack rear down-force and were compensating by monkey seat and agressive rear wing. Halo also messed up their slim air box advantage I suspect.

Also got me thinking. With the halo it is noticeable that the airbag on others is more flat and wide than thin of the McLaren. I am guessing the airflow off the Halo could have changed the direction of Airflow there

Zack trying to pull a fast one, less downforce than last years car, seriously who is he trying to fool. After years of dev on same aero formula no way they are behind. Its clear they ran max rear wing to point fingers which has seriously backfired. Its an efficiency formula this not just engine but also aero. Just like peak power means nothing in this era same applies with peaky aero with high drag.

They lost the T wing, blown monkey seat, and have a rushed rear packaging job with the new engine. Why is it not possible to have less downforce at the rear than last year, given they evidently have traction issues?

its not only mclaren who lost those T wing, and other stuff. that car has so much drag, they can afford to put more wing due to more loss in straight line speed. believe me next year, they will come up some more excuses and engine integration excuses will be invalid then

Without getting too detailed, how did you calculate or get this info? Does it apply to entire 2018 season, or Silverstone practice only, or what? Good stuff, that's why I'm asking.

i dont know which long run pace is this but looking at fia.com for silverstone ,the mercedes long run is the best, mclaren about 6th renualt and haas ahead, only brendon did his long run and we know gasly is about a second faster in race pace from what i have seen before , so he should be around mclaren race pace when they fit the spec 2 engine tommorrow.
