Scuderia Ferrari SF71H

so you've recently predicted something they were already being investigated for, much less accused of, in spain?

Ferrari used the bulged engine cover again in FP3. So it can be told that they actually were using the wider one for cooling reasons in FP2.

or just comparing data...

They already have data to compare from yesterday. :) They used the bulged one in FP1 and the wider one in FP2.

Two tips but one pipe. A way to legally maximize the height of the topmost pipe, perhaps.
The bottom pipe doesnt seem necessary for flow capacit barely any flow would go though it at that 90 degree branch. Likely there for legal reasons. Maybe two pipes are required by the regs and Ferrari only need one.
according to the rule the use of two waste gates requires each having their own separate dedicated exhaust pipe.

Again, making your own rules up, it says nothing of the sort, it just says you may have one or two.

However, there is a minimum area, and there's a rule saying both must be the same size if there's two, so it may be a way to bring the gas velocity up in thhe upper pipe, whilst still meeting the minimum size limits, to give more effect near the wing.

I still think the new wastegate pipe arrangement is very clever, but Ferrari reverted to a more conventional layout for Saturday. Did the FIA tell them to revert or was it a Ferrari decision?

I wonder if the lower pipe entrains flow into the upper pipe.

Edit: this may violate:
5.8.2 Engine exhaust systems must have only a single turbine tailpipe exit and either one or two wastegate tailpipe exits which must all be rearward facing and through which all exhaust gases must pass. All and only the turbine exit exhaust gases must pass through the turbine tailpipe and all and only the wastegate exhaust gases must pass through the wastegate tailpipe(s). None of the tailpipes may be contained within any of the other tailpipes.
So it may just be about raising the height of the topmost pipe, or altering exhaust pulse timing out of the wastegate pipes. The lower pipe being maybe 80mm longer (length of elbow).
could it be a resonator/expansion chamber ? not sure yet

25 second mark. I think it was the same bit that eventually fell off.

Makes sense to me. Reduce the intensity of the exhaust pulses, create smoother flow. If I understand the working principals correctly.

Well, at least they can give Vettel a free new gearbox for the next race. Think about the positive things! 8)

All this recent talk of the Ferrari engine being the most powerful....

I think its not and the Merc still is and its just the Ferrari is really clean on the aero (like Red Bull).
