I can't complain about this move, from Mclaren's point of view. It's not easy getting top guys, especially in their current predicament, so good job by them. It'll be difficult getting anyone from the top 3, even Renault, so this has got to be a realistic target, which may reap big dividends.

The most credible thing McLaren has done in.......I can't think when. His job his huge. He has to save the race team, save the company and be absolutely brutal about what is necessary. I rate him highly though, he's certainly served his apprenticeship and proved he's not a charlatan like some of the other so-called TDs around.

Wouldn't be a bad deal to loan Lando, on a multi-year deal, 2019-20. That is, of course, Mclaren can keep him on a long-term deal.

Congratulations to mclaren, Key is my favorite TD for the long time. Hopefully he can sort MCL leadership mess. But be aware that STR would request compensation in the form of vandoorne or norris.

Alonso: A technician of the level of James Key is always positive. The sooner he can start working on the car, the better. We've invested Fridays on gathering data and we already know what's happening with the car. 70% of what we're doing on this car is already for next year. They are also new parts for this GP (Hungary).

If Toro Rosso start playing hardball in search of compensation, perhaps McLaren might consider a loan move for either Norris or Vandoorne. I think Vandoorne deserves another year to prove himself, and I also think another year in F2 wouldn't harm Norris. Then there's the Sainz rumours, so who knows. I'd imagine TR will want Norris on a full contract, so maybe a loan is out of the question.

That comment from Alonso sounds promising, both in terms of the team's focus and Alonso's desire to stay another year.
