James Key is a tremendous addition. Will he work with Prodromou? What a team that is on paper.

Business just picked up!

Finally Mclaren saw the light. Nothing against Morris but he was the wrong choice from day 1, best thing he did in f1 was under Key. So they finally got the man. Next year will be promising, expecting the car to deliver start of season. Best of all he knows his stuff so no more bs feom likes of Boullier or Zack.

That is exactly why they have gardening leaves; so you can negative the advantage to rivals by delaying a person's arrival and filling the position lost. Protecting IP is another reason too. If such was the case Simone Resta wouldn't have joined Sauber immediately.
What is to stop him reading manuals from Mclaren etc?

Gardening leave is to stop any information going from the company he is leaving, no to stop him learning about the company he is going to. He will be expected not to use anything he knows from STR until he becomes a Mclaren employee, but he can still 'catch up' on Mclaren, he can not implement anything he discoverers, but he can be ontop of the job when he starts.
Reading manual and listening to hearsay is not the same as actually working in a team.
No. These guys (well, everyone really) are expected to have integrity. Also the team he goes to expects it too as the same thing happens when people leave them. There is a lot of leeway inside the rule. He can sit in the garden for 3 months then turn up at Mclaren and say 'Right, how do things work' or he can turn up fully briefed, and ready to start work. Preparing for the 'new job' is not giving them privileged information.
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

You may be disappointed, he won't be able to have a lot of impact on the 2019 car unless Mclaren negotiate an early release for him from STR.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Brown is actually the one that started this proces.

It's a ruthless sport. Sure there is integrity, but they'll still prefer having a technical director.

Now PP and his team will be allowed to show what they're made off working with JK.

EB was putting a "new structure" in place for 3 years and it was a total disaster !!

I also hope they can make a plan and get JK asap.

The future is starting to look good !!

More like Key will tell PP to do this and that, curb his power because he has been getting away with everything. 3 years later and they cant identify aero issues and then fire the chassis and design guys. Pp is on thin ice and if it wasnt for his record he would have been sent home.

Do you have an inside source for PP being on thin ice?

Given how happy Mclaren have been to let others go, why would they keep PP if he was as bad as you say?
