They should be sued, Renault, by Red Bull. Full stop.
For what? These PU's are more or less prototypes and they're as reliable as prototypes are.

Also the constant bickering of RBR about the Renault PU in the media during the last few years certainly didn't help to improve the relationship between RBR and Renault.
the relations is what not should have not been the focus of renault.
they should have focused at the PU.

renault had and have the best paying customer teams, and the royally --- it up

In the same way that McLaren should have looked to themselves to see why the old Honda PU was such a disaster over the last few years, Red Bull need to look at why they seem to be encountering so many more PU issues than the works Renault and McLaren with (mostly) the same equipment.

Renault haven’t exactly bulletproof but seem considerably less fragile than RBR and whilst McLaren have their own issues with exhaust and gearbox problems there’s no blame to be placed at Renault‘s door for either of those either.

Also, for people calling for an advanced/immediate switch to Honda, please note that as of Friday before FP1, the two Red Bulls had used 36 different Renault PU components whereas Toro Rosso had burned through 52 of the Honda ones. Given the limit for the whole season is 15 per driver (3 x ICE, Turbo & MGU-K; 2 x MGU-H, Battery & Control Electrics), 30 per team, it’s hardly a more reliable option!

That's nice. And how is the reliability in the races where it matters the most? Honda wins by a landslide.
Not to mention Toro Rosso have a lot of engines in their pool now because of strategic reasons.

Bull crap Jackles. Why, because the car is extremely fast unlike last years or this years Mclaren. Red Bull have 5 years experience with this PU and know how to keep it cool. The PU is not overheating but simply failing and specifically the battery and kers is failing. This package has won 3 races and could also have won Bahrain if the Renault battery didn't fail in Daniels car.

The Toro Rosso team has had several large accidents which have destroyed most of those 52 units. Hartley at spain and canada for instance. Toro Rosso is essentially a test bed and a Honda engine did manage to last 7 races without being changed in Gasly's car. This hasn't occurred for the Renault in the back of the Red Bull.

Anybody theorising Red Bull changing suppliers by the next race, dont forget they have the mandatory 2 week factory shut down to still work around.

Anybody who can think would never think of such a thing.

Renault have said previously (a t least a year or two before) that Red Bull run their engines hotter than Renault recommend.

Of course they have as this relationship is broken and Renault still have no idea why the red bull is 1 second a lap faster then their car.

The RB14-H is already built and is supposed to be run at the in season test this week.

With a Honda engine?

Probbably. There are a few people over at reddit claiming insider information that it's going to happen. Whether this is more than just venting and water-cooler talk only time will tell.

Toro Rosso appears to have two cars for testing this week. Dont think RedBull can use different engine as Renault will make noise and probably not supply after the break. So lets see if there is this B chassis on the guise of TR tomorrow.

Two questions if anyone has the knowledge please. I did skim the FIA site but on my phone so not too good.

As the car does not exist as 'this years' car, would they be allowed to run it?

or

The rules seem to say of testing with a current car or previous year’s car can only be done at sanctioned tests.
as/if this Red Bull Honda is not this years car, or last years car, could they run it in a private test?

I would say testing is testing, and Renault can STFU.

As the previous poster has stated, testing is testing and with no future why would Red Bull waste a test day with Renault. Max's comments were very clear and it is obvious by cyril's own words that Renault built their new package to not be able to fit in to the Red Bull. Even though Red Bull announced Honda engines only at the french GP Red Bull have had access to the Honda engine since Singapore 2017 and the plan was always to switch to Honda.

Red Bull have had ample time to plan for this since Singapore 2017 and an RB14-h has been on the drawing board since daniels batteries blew up in Bahrain. The Honda is a significantly smaller PU then the Renault and Renault have just made their new PU larger with the update. The RB14 should have no issues with a Honda engine installation.
