Anyone taking bets on Ric/Gas swap this season?

And unless you have inside, verified knowledge of Ric's contact, please refrain from saying that it cannot happen. RBR have done it before.

It would be fun if they prove to be really competitive, but I suspect Verstappen will be too quick for Gasly.

What would be the reason for that? Because he's leaving next year?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?

I doubt it.

Firstly, whilst Red Bull's position is in the WCC is safe, Daniel's still going to offer better results than Gasly would for the remainder of the season.

Secondly, leaving Gasly at Toro Rosso allows him to continue to build up experience with the Honda engine which is going to be hugely valuable come testing for 2019.

Thirdly, Gasly is almost a full season less experienced than Verstappen was when he joined Red Bull. There's a lot of benefit to him staying with Toro Rosso and continuing to learn his trade outside of the Red Bull pressure cooker. Dumping him in against Verstappen to (probably) get caned for the rest of the season is illogical.

There are always people trying to prove that RB is horribly ruthless but really, sacking RIC towards TR would be an absolute PR catastrophe, won't happen.

The only thing that idea has going for it , is Gasly will be better prepared for 2019 if he had half a season in the RedBull in 2018.

To have max points for both Red Bull and Toro Rosso, no drivers changes should be needed this season. I don't think the transition from the Toro Rosso car to the Red Bull car would be any harder. I think it's actually beneficial to gain experience with that Honda PU.

Verstappen switched from one race weekend to the next, Sainz did the same from Toro Rosso to Renault, all without testing. Gasly will have preseason. I don't see what the big deal is. The only thing that will come out of it is bad PR and very likely less points, for Red Bull at least.

Gasly and Red Bull will be better prepared for 2019 if Gas continue with Toro Rosso this season developing the Honda PU. this second half of the season is going to be for sure, very painful for Red Bull, because Renault will do everything they can to limit the information and potential developments of their PU, as they did with Toro Rosso last year.

And not only that, he turned down the entire F1.

It seems hard to believe.

Boah... I don't know what to say about this guy / Renault:
The famous Spec C where Renault wanted to close the gap, or wanted to make Red Bull regret their decision to go to Honda.
And now even the works team won't take the risk to put it into the car.
I really don't understand Renault.
