McLaren MCL33

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It seems the vertical slots are gone on this new version of the RW. Unlike this one:

Yes, that is correct.

Noticed that redbull didn't even have horizontal slots. Ate all of these trying to reduce drag?

Yes, at first I though RB had removed them then realized they didn't have them in the first place! I guess it is done to reduce drag, but not sure.

If you have a tiny rear wing you don't need them, they reduce drag by counteracting the massive vortices from the corners of the wing, if you don't have much of one, they're just adding their own bit of drag for no benefit.

Same for the lower slots, if you don't have much upwash you're not going to drag/entrain more air through the sideplate lowers.

But the vortexes are on the tips of the wing not on the endplates and pillars.

Telemetry for Norris. Lots of lap-time loss in the corner exits.

Is that new?

I was hoping, the section that connects to the chassis in the front is not on there and it looks a little different in the front.Could just be the angle.

Also the diffuser on the car yesterday ... was the old diffuser.

Probably just back to back testing like the front wings.

They were within hundredths of each other so I don't think so.
