that is not really due to halo, it wasn't meant for this sort of impact, the top of the engine air inlet - called - roll hoop, and the end of the nose of the cockpit - draw a line through these, the helmet is always well below this line, so a slide over not so soft dirt with the rool hoop and cockpit nose poses no danger to the driver
the praise they give to halo here is just so they can justify it's place on the car, nothing else, there were plenty of this sort of accidents before halo era where drivers walked away unharmed, I remember one (not the place and time), when the actual roll hoop was even sheared off on a curb after the car started tumbling and then the car slid some distance in the grass, and still the driver was unharmed
halo is for small stuff or barrier corners not to enter the area below that imaginary line from the cockpit nose to the top of roll hoop, remember that and stop being a media guided sheep
