Anyone think it's strange they haven't given kvatt a fp1 run in the car against Hartley this weekend if he is inline for the drive next year and with the race being in Russia

Friday practice @Sochi as seen in F1 site.

Long-run pace deficit (seconds per lap)
1= Ferrari
1= Mercedes
3 Red Bull +0.4
4 Toro Rosso +0.9
5= Renault +1.3
5= Force India +1.3
7 Sauber +1.5
8 McLaren +1.8
9 Williams +2.3
10 Haas +2.9

Toro Rosso’s eye-catching speed over one lap was mirrored in their long-run pace, with estimates putting them just 0.9s off Ferrari and Mercedes per lap. That would make them comfortably the fastest of the midfield runners, some 0.4s quicker than the evenly-matched Renault and Force India. Could points still be on the cards for Gasly or Hartley?

God I hope Hartley can get out and race this time. It seems every race this guy gets hung up in some drama first lap on the start, or has an engine issue holding him in the Paddock. Guess we shall see, I think you're probably right though. Toro looks quick as far as the midfielders go.

Nog enough time for fitting a seat, learning the controls for a new driver, oh wait...

Agree, I think this is the first time a driver gets sacked because of having structural bad luck. I can’t even say whether he is any good, because every time he gets out there he gets rammed, or breaks down.

Hartleys pace on soft was phenomenal, Gasly on ultra was poor, too much deg and about second slower than Hartley. Hoping they start on soft and then one stop to the end. Quali mode should make it interesting.

I don't think we'll see full quali pace from the car here. Both drivers said they aren't focusing on quali at all because of the penalty and are putting all efforts into race setup. They'll possibly throw the cars in Q1 just to save on high stress mileage for the new PU.

Long run pace looks relatively extraordinary. Even Cyril made comment after practice, Honda have made huge gains. He said that was down to Honda investing "massively more" than Renault.

Sort of clear why RBR went with Honda now..

This is great news. So many things I want to say but shouldn't since it isn't TR related. Will be interesting to see how the STR goes in Suzuka.

Not suprised they reverted back. You could hear the gearbox breaking upshifts which put the nail in the coffin of Macca and Honda. Needs some further refinement on the software possibly.
