It was introduced at the German GP IIRC.roon wrote: ↑28 Sep 2018, 20:12New endplate detail? Reminds me of Renault.Morteza wrote: ↑27 Sep 2018, 15:54https://cdn-8.motorsport.com/images/mgl ... -win-1.jpg

Then he lines up next to Ricciardo and starts to pull through the gears 2-3-4-5-6 etc and easily outpaces Ricciardo who had a good straight forward launch off the line.
How is this possible? Did Ricciardo not have full power?
I think the conversation is about the difference in acceleration off the start between the 2 x rb14'sJust_a_fan wrote: ↑03 Oct 2018, 08:42What has any of this got to do with the RB14?
The race thread is the place for this discussion about the drivers' races.
Looks like VER's initial get away, even with the manoeuvre, is better then RIC, and that speed he carries all along the straight.johndoucakis wrote: ↑02 Oct 2018, 13:33https://streamable.com/j3bh0

Just watch the first 200 meters. I am not talking about Alonso moving out of the way or anything related to overtaking front cars. I am talking off the start line and before turn 1.
They have identical reaction, keep you eye on Ricciardo's car from Max's cockpit, Max moves closer to Ricciardo and is a car length behind, same momentum and all.. and then his car just launches pass Ricciardo's.
It cannot be traction related, they are in their 3rd to 4th gears
As I said above, Max was just about past by the start line, so either Max had a better reaction time, a better jump, or the car had better traction or grunt.Jolle wrote: ↑03 Oct 2018, 10:51Looks like VER's initial get away, even with the manoeuvre, is better then RIC, and that speed he carries all along the straight.johndoucakis wrote: ↑02 Oct 2018, 13:33https://streamable.com/j3bh0

could also be down to tactics. when you start from the back in a faster car, you're more likely to catch up the pack when they brake into the first corner and 9 out of 10 times they crash into each other one way or another. to wait after the first corner, sneak past when half the back markers are down escape roads, you pass a good number of cars without risk.Big Tea wrote: ↑03 Oct 2018, 12:49As I said above, Max was just about past by the start line, so either Max had a better reaction time, a better jump, or the car had better traction or grunt.Jolle wrote: ↑03 Oct 2018, 10:51Looks like VER's initial get away, even with the manoeuvre, is better then RIC, and that speed he carries all along the straight.johndoucakis wrote: ↑02 Oct 2018, 13:33https://streamable.com/j3bh0
