Ferrari F2009 Image

Post

There seems to be very few images floating around of what the 2009 spec cars could look like, so I’ve had a go at guessing the F2009. Ignore the livery; I used the 248F1 launch photo as a basis; less wings to remove.

It’s intended to adhere to the 2009 regulations, so:

- The front wing is wider and lower (sort of).
- The rear wing is taller and narrower (doesn’t look quite right, but anyway).
- All external flow conditioners, bargeboards, and winglets have been removed, with the exception of some; eg. Flip-ups in front of the rear tires.
- Anvil dorsal fin added (it might be kept give it helps prevent flow separation).
- Nose hole retained (it should get around the regulations).
- Wheel shields (they should also get around the regulations).
- Slick tires.
- A few other small changes to bring it up to date with the regulations.

Am I missing anything? I’m sure the teams have some unique innovations in the pipeline, including more creative front and rear wings, so consider this a basic guess at what the cars could look like next year.

1) Front-wing has a maximum of 2 planes and only 1 in the middle (FIA mandated section)
2) Nose hole is illegal next year?
3) There will be barge-boards, just different to this year
4) Ramp wings infront of rear wheels will be banned next year

Other than those, I can't see anything glaringly wrong with it -- it's a much better photoshop than what I was able to do :)

Do the side pods not have to be more square again? Less undercut?

I think I´m gonna quit watching F1 if these rules are implemented

You're a bit late with that :P

I hope you don't mind, but I edited your picture to make it go with the regulations a bit more:

Fantastic work, 658 and Scotracer =D> =D> =D>

I can't decide if I like the future look of an F1 racer or not. One thing I don't like is the width of the front wing - YUCK.

Keep up the good work on photo-chopping.

One "closed section" actually means the section with its flap, so the first image's front wing is legal i think.
(except on the central part of course).

The front wing leading edge actually runs ahead of the nose.

The scotracer edited one seems really credible, except that it misses the beam wing over the diffuser and of course the nose hole is not permitted.

I wasn't sure if it was permitted or not. I'll go remove it now. Also, it's hard to see the beam wing in that photo but I'll do what I can.

And barge boards albeit closer to the bodywork are allowed.

I think that looks pretty good!

The wide front wing is going to look badly out of proportion to the rest of the car..why could they not make them 2m wide again and leave the nose at 1.8m?

Again OP, I hope you don't mind but I am a bit fanatical with the new regulations so I had to edit these:

Removal of beam-wing and nose hole

Front-wing moved forward

Yes, side pods will be much bigger.
Also need to add No. 1 on car. [-o<
