If there is no tyre war anymore, why are the tyres chosen by Bridgestone always so marginal? Why do they make tyres that can't take agressive driving?
The equipment is, as we know, the same for all (so don't assume I'm bleating on behalf of LH) and has to be managed appropriately. It stricks me that we'd see more of the drivers being a damn sight more aggressive if they wern't all treading carefully on these tyres that are simply too fragile. Take Alonso in Germany, he was ringing the neck of the Renault, being flambouyant and being a racer, but the rear tyres degraded to the point whereby he was limping along unable to keep up after an all too brief contest. I underlined that point, because no one expects a tyre to take punishment for ages and ages, but the wear rate/sensitivity of them seems too high to me.
I don't feel like the end to the tyre war has really benefitted the racing. What do you guys think?
