This is the real question. The track is apparently quicker than at Spanish GP, so by comparing times from qualifying with times in testing, we could get an idea in relative terms, how is McLaren doing.

I believe it was resurfaced, so it took some time for the track to grip up, fresh asphalt gets filled up with tire residue, and becomes stickier.

That makes sense, didn't think it would take up to a year to see a new surface be in a better condition for grip
