I can safely say now that we have closed the gap by half from Mercedes and Ferrari than last year. The question is if we are in front of Red Bull or behind it for the 3rd position and how much and if also we are in front of the midfield or very close to it.

Yea, Merc and Ferrari don't matter, the fight for 3rd is on, RB and Honda won't make it in the first try for sure! Now Haas RP and TR and Williams are behind us, the question is Ferrari B (Alfa Romeo) RB and Renault. I hope we can fight there for 3rd.

Guys dont forget that a toro rosso did a 1m16.8 so i think we must have that 4 spot before looking to the front

Definitely, definitely behind Red Bull... We could be anything between 5th-7th, in my opinion, but nothing is conclusive.. But the top 3 are in another league at the moment.

Renault engine is better and more reliable than Honda. But RB aero is top notch, well see about RB.

Yep. I estimate 1-1.2s behind top3. Then midfield it depends on track layout largely. It’s all v close. Renault/Toro/McL/Alfa/Haas are within a couple of tenths. Maybe even racing point but I have a hard time figuring them out.
If McL can sort out low speed mechanics then they can leap towards the front of the bunch

C4 quickest = 17.1 from Day 2 of this week
C3 quickest = 17.4 from Today

We are also half second behind ferrari in the last sector Vettel did 1m16.352 so that is the gab to the front

Also anyone saying McLaren will fight for 3rd in WCC is delusional. They are most likely going to be fighting for 5th. If they are in fight for 4th, that'd be a huge achievement after last year.

For me mclaren this year must go for the 4 spot they did a lot of practices last year in last races to prepare 2019 depend now of the developement during the saison and what they will bring for melbourne

Kvyat just did a 1:16.898 (almost the same as Albon before) on C5... seems like McL and TR could be close....

We are in for one hell of a season looks to be very close in the top but the midfield looks to be packed...
