Autosport.com: FIA clarifies chicane-cutting position

"Formula One drivers have been told that they should wait at least one corner before resuming a fight for position in the event of future chicane-cutting incidents."
The very fact that the FIA had to clarify this proves that it was unreasonable to punish Hamilton. I'm a Ferrari fan, but I don't want races decided after the race--I didn't hear about it until Wednesday! The moderators on Speed TV expressed no concern with the way Hamilton gave back the position and then repassed. Raikkonen crashed anyway, so it's not like Hamilton stole a win from him.
I believe NASCAR decided a few years back that a win would not be changed after the race--NASCAR respects its fans, F1 doesn't. I'm not a NASCAR follower, but you can't deny their success. F1 continues to test the patience of its fans.
