There is a good chance he will be faster than Norris at the beginning, I wonder how will the team handle this situation.NiyolHuayra wrote: ↑28 Apr 2019, 13:09Kimi to start from pits! That is P9 for SAI and free tyre choice.
He has slower tyres that are difficult to warm up. Softs will be significantly quicker for the first 8-10 laps.Shader wrote: ↑28 Apr 2019, 13:13There is a good chance he will be faster than Norris at the beginning, I wonder how will the team handle this situation.NiyolHuayra wrote: ↑28 Apr 2019, 13:09Kimi to start from pits! i don't wanna start a useless discussion but i think you don't understand the term "paydriver"Marc.W wrote: ↑28 Apr 2019, 12:51I'm not sure you understand what a pay driver is, Lando earned his seat, as did Perez tbh, a person's wealth doesn't determine their driver status, by your logic Lewis Hamilton is also a pay driver since he the wealthiest guy on the grid
A pay driver is someone who wouldn't have a seat without the money they bring, i.e Stroll, Maldonado, Sirotkin (arguably Perez this season).Capharol wrote: ↑28 Apr 2019, 13:18i don't wanna start a useless discussion but i think you don't understand the term "paydriver"
in the early days you could buy yourself a seat in F1, so this is a word that is used for drivers that brings in a lot of money to secure themselves a seat in F1 (like Stroll)
BUT .... the term paydriver is incorrect anyway... because ALL drivers bringing sponsors with them when they enter the motorsport at 1 point, with this sponsors the driver can say "here, this is my sponsor, you don't have to pay me that much, when..."
so when do we talk about a paydriver? when we talk about Stroll, who got his seat because daddy bought the team or when we talk about Perez, who brings a big sponsor with him?
Perez if free, might have been a good fit at McLaren. He's talented and McLaren would have loved his cash.Marc.W wrote: ↑28 Apr 2019, 13:41A pay driver is someone who wouldn't have a seat without the money they bring, i.e Stroll, Maldonado, Sirotkin (arguably Perez this season).Capharol wrote: ↑28 Apr 2019, 13:18i don't wanna start a useless discussion but i think you don't understand the term "paydriver"

Having a sponsor doesn't make you a pay driver, it's called advertising if that were the case then even Raikkonen would be considered a pay driver
as stated ... i am not in for a debatte on this subject because thats a personal point of view..... and mine is different then yours apparentlyMarc.W wrote: ↑28 Apr 2019, 13:41A pay driver is someone who wouldn't have a seat without the money they bring, i.e Stroll, Maldonado, Sirotkin (arguably Perez this season).Capharol wrote: ↑28 Apr 2019, 13:18i don't wanna start a useless discussion but i think you don't understand the term "paydriver"

Sainz was told to pit, and then Perez pitted so McLaren told Sainz to stay out. Unfortunately didn't work out. Still the team didn't lose any points, Norris and Sainz exchanged places. Hopefully they can catch Perez at the end of the race.
