Probably, but we will never know... What is clear to me is that we have the right drivers for the current team’s situation... No need for a Class A driver when in recovery mode

Sainz lost 1 sec in the last sector in Q2, first try. I guss that say alot where the problem is.

He also had a lot of traffic in him in that sector.

A good start without contact in the first 2 corners we have a chance to score some points

We “are” in recovery mode... Having a top driver will only probably help the team into been clear 4th, that’s not the goal... Until the team comfortably starts getting into Q3 regularly (like Haas did today), the team won’t need a Class A driver (and one of those driver wouldn’t probably want to drive for Mclaren until that’s the case).

We're definitely still in recovery mode. This car could have qualified no higher than 9th today. Still a lot to do to get to near top 3 level... But definitely going in the right direction. 2 day rest coming up, hopefully they'll learn a lot... A bit worried about Monaco now.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Drive it probably 2-3 tenths faster than Sainz/Lando... Which in this particular track would have probably got him in front or behind Romain by an small margin... Which would still be more than a second from the front... So no, the best driver in the universe wouldn’t make the car fight at the front.

Let’s be patient... The team is doing the right things, have the right mentality, the right drivers to continue to improve.

It’s like with the updates, we seem to forget that the updates that were brought to Spain probably started the design phase around Melbourne (between design, testing and producing the actual parts)... So this isn’t anything more than an “step” in the development path... They are already working on the next set of updates... It wouldn’t surprise me if the next wing iteration is more similar to the Mercedes one also... Seems to be the right design but very hard to actually make it work.

Personally I want to see the team finishing clear 4th for this year and show some progress of catching up the first 3. This must be the target if we want to claim that this year is successful.

Also I want to see James Key showing his talent in making an aerodynamic wonder. I want to see what the supposed to be Andrian Newey Jr. able to do or if this is all just a big overreaction.

Yeah... first you need to know they work different jobs. Newey isn't the Technical director at RBR, Pierre Wache is. Technical directors don't do aero design.

Newey is the CTO. Really he's aero specialist that comes in and keeps an eye on the aero department.
