I also feel that’s the case. Because Mercedes has always had a car which put much energy into the tyres and that’s exactly what you need this year. I think it’s as simple as that.
What’s not simple, however, is to adapt to the new tyres from get go. It’s a question of car concepts. That’s why it’s a bit unfair telling that other teams did a bad job because they had the same amount of testing time and could have reacted in a proper way. As I told, it’s surely not that easy.

Nobody in F1 is going to help Mercedes keep 'ruining the show' with dominating. it's a completely senseless idea that Pirelli would change the tyres to help Mercedes! why???

Pirelli changed the tyres after they were running too hot in Feb '18 testing as they hated having their tyres on TV with blisters. Then in the last race of last year Mercedes and only Mercedes ran extra sensors that then they and only they were allowed to run in the tyre test that followed

Then they responded to that by developing their car with lots of front downforce, changing it, and that's obviously why it was late for testing this year, with the Spec2 only coming in Test2

So their competitive advantage was being smarter, just like it was with the engine

You don’t start developing your car at the end of the previous season. By that time the project already is in it’s last phases, also Binotto told that.
James Allison told that they had started the W10 project already at the end of 2017!

AMuS assumes that Mercedes is likely to run all new engines with reduced power until they find out what caused Stroll's engine failure

yes that's true but James also explained how the Week1 version had inwashing endplates, as we saw anyway, and was super slow and then they changed it. that's why it was late

Those endplates were not inwashing. Scarbs explained in one of his videos how it was a clever way of outwash.

Edit: I just noticed that you wrote it was James who told the endplates were inwashing. Would like to watch that. Do you have a link?
