In the Mercedes it is apparently a simple ball joint that is designed mechanically to allow the suspension to dip down a little so for example when turning right the left side goes down a bit allowing the front of the car to stay level with track. Not all teams need this but teams with that raised upper wishbone were struggling with front end grip(Under steering as the upper wishbone joint sent forces in the upward direction and side direction causing Lateral vibration) through medium speed and slow speed corners until Mercedes this year found a way to keep the suspension level in these corners so negating vehicle dynamics deficiency with Aero stability. It's a big reason in Mercedes's up turn in pace. Now teams not running that upper wishbone joint don't need it like Ferrari and Haas for example. Racing point went on an entirely different route to solve that but that i will probably put in Racing point forum.

Or it could just be something they did to the front suspension to stop it from breaking after Canada's rear suspension.

Looks like offset wishbones to me.
No one said anything about wishbones. They said pushrod. The point attaching the pushrod to the upright was moved further inboard allowing ride height change through steering lock as well as any other effects.

This will probably primarily help with low speed corners as it can reduce ride height for the front the more steering lock that is applied. That's actually not a small change and I expect that it will take some getting used to concerning car setup.

If the Pushrod-on-Upright feature works - and it probably will - then this could be somewhat of a game-changer.

williams thought it was important also, they introduced at the last gp, lets hope this can help make the front stronger, will be very interesting to follow. Im pretty impressed with their update rate this year, i have to say.

Are you asking for an explanation? If so, then it works by lowering the outer wheel & raising inner one mid-corner. This reduces front ride height and increases tyre contact surface. Therefore more grip.
Btw, Williams introduced the system in Canada and even the beleaguered FW42 improved its performance.

Is it something that can be incorporated on Lando’s car over the course of the weekend, if it works as expected and improves performance?

Definitely. It's normal to divide testing programs between drivers.
