You have to be out of your mind if you actually believe a new manufacturer will join F1 with McLaren in 2021. There is no chance at all that McLaren will take that risk after the Honda situation.

Never say Never... Crazier things have happened...
Like what? The first landing on the moon? They are just getting back at top of things. You have to be absolutely crazy to start another partnership, it will take years to get at the same level of the current manufacturers. It would make no sense at all.

The very last thing Mclaren need now is an engine swap, the only thing worst would be to swap to an engine that has never run in f1. The only possible worst case than that would be to swap to an engine not tested in F1 and be the only user. Mclaren have made some poor choices in the past, but they are by no means stupid.

(Oh, hang on, just thought there is worse - New engine no one else runs etc, and Alonso returns  )
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

Exactly, only logical "bombshell" might be a junior team. Seidl seems very intent on building for the future, wind tunnel first. After that, junior team seems like a logical second step. However, I find it unlikely that Eddie Jordan would have that information to share.

I have heard the rumours of Telefonica and Vodafone are trying to get into the game.

However, Zac Brown has been having the issue of sponsors ringing his phone off the hook.

All the present sponsors have been signing up long term, some increasing their exposure as well.

Overall, i can see the McLaren budget increase for 2020, this years budget is a estimated €165m - $175m for the team, under Honda it was €80m higher, but if they can get that closer to the €225m mark, and spend it correctly and in a smart way, i think they can easily challenge Red Bull on merit, and even challenge the Mercedes and Ferraris.

On Engines, i can see them staying with Renault long term now. I have heard murmurs that McLaren are interested in running a junior team in F1, one that is ran on a budget of €100m maximum. As Ron should have done in 2017 when Manor went to the wall for the final time, bought all the assets for the price of their debts, that's was only £9.3m or so at the time, then done what Lawrence Stroll did last year with Racing point. Switched to the Mercedes power unit until Honda got their act together with the new team. Im sure they could have ran hot young drivers in the smaller team, it was a modded opportunity i think. It would have given McLaren a second vote in the F1 structure as well.

Williams remains with Mercedes, Claire has denied the transition to Renault engines.
It could be for 2021, which would make more sense anyway considering the introduction of new rules.
Renault to power all McLaren roads cars!

Surely Ferarri are having issues that we are just a half second behind at this point.

Or simply Mclaren has lowered the gap to the first 3 to now only Half a Second compared to what we started at the start of the year who were more than a second. If they keep progressing that fast we will reach them in no time.

Do you deny that we have closed the gap?

Well, last year we were 2.247 seconds from pole... So, it looks like the team has clearly chipped at the gap :)
