Renault needs someone like Seidl to lead their engine department. They should also have someone like Andreas to replace Cyril. It has taken way too long for Renault to produce a reliable engine. I'm hoping that we will have Mercedes PU's in the back of our cars in 2021. I'm sure James Key has a good understanding of the Renault PU's architecture, but I think we need something more reliable.
Let's not call Seidi a hero before he's been with McLaren for a few years...
True, but his presence is already being felt in the team. Next year's car will be under his management obviously, so we shall see how it goes. Additionally, however, Cyril has been known to make big claims. For example, whenever Renault announces a power upgrade, that's all Cyril wants to talk about. He doesn't want to talk about if those gains are sustainable and reliable. On the other hand, Seidl has been continuing the atmosphere of being humble at McLaren. He could have easily said that we have the 4th best car period, but chooses to say that there's always room for improvement.
