I just go by with the interview and reports that teams release if Renault says the focused on reliability and not power it is what it is no need to get emotional the season haven't even begun.in f1 findings gains is paramount it's competition after all so the best prepared it's one how have found lap gains and good reliability it's not stretch to say Honda is the most prep

This is what I've seen as well, Renault said they were focused on reliability and not power gains for 2020. Ferrari said their 2020 PU is not as powerful as their 2019 unit (make of that what you will), Mercedes said they are making very small gains everywhere and Honda said they've found some very good ground with their 2020 unit and are finally using some new techniques they've been developing over the past couple of years.

The things above are what we've heard from the 4 manufacturers. To me, it says something when Honda finally come out confident in what they've got, it's a marked change from their usual quiet demeanour.

The PU are already homologated since Australia, right? They can't run a different spec without taking out an slot for the engine list I think...
This is a very good question! Australia was cancelled before any car was running on track.
So, do the already installed PU's in Australia count as used PU for the pool?
Just looked it up in the regulations. Homologation book of first engine of season must be submitted to FIA before feb 28th. Every change to engine after that must be submitted again and is considered a modified homologation. For the in-season modified and homologated engine to count in the pool its indeed the moment of first time leaving the pitlane. So I interpret this as follows: in-season you can take new spec homologated engines to events as much as you like and never use them, but you can only replace your already homologated 1st engine after feb 28th by making it your 2nd engine of the season (out of 3 allowed without a penalty).

You’re both wrong, Ted says in his notebook they could start the season with a higher engine spec then they were going to in Melbourne because they hadn’t actually started the season yet.

It’s 10:50 into the video

Ferrari will start the season with PU 065/2, version 065/1 that was prepared for the start of the season will not be used. I see no problem starting the season with the second or third specification of PU for other manufacturers.

Wasnt 065/1 used in testing and 065/2 ready in time for Melbourne?

065/1 was used in tests and with it Ferrari was planning to start the season, I expect that 065/2 should have debuted in Canada.

OK, Merc is doing some testing in the comming days.
I assume RB can't do the same, because of the Renault-PU?
IIRC that was also the reason why they couldn't do 18" tyre testing for Pirelli!?

I've heard that Albon, like Norris (photo), will be racing an F3 car for a few days this week and / or next week,
to get used to racing again.

I don't know if a team is allowed to operate a car from another team.

Highly unlikely...but an RB14 with a Honda-PU?
