This is old news, reported may 16th...
https://the-race.com/formula-1/ferrari- ... -contract/

Just as I said, Ferrari got wise a dropped him like a bag of trash. If they were truly wise they would have never resigned him after 2017.
Agreed. He's far past his prime and his weaknesses as a driver were fully exposed by Danny Ric. when they drove together at Red Bull.

We are heading into a Mickey Mouse mini season and it sounds like the Ferrari is a total dog. If they have to send Seb out the door prior to the end of the season like they did with Prost, so be it!

I just hope that Vettel doesn't affect the championship with one of his characteristic mistakes/crashes, like grosjean did in 2012.

Personal preferences aside, I think would be poetic justice for Ferrari if Vettel were to win 2020, tbh

It would, but highly unlikely. One of his biggest problems is his inability to self improve. There is a bigger chance he will get very frustrated and blame everything and everyone, in and outside the team.

After todays showing I think Seb could be driving for Aston Martin next year....aka racing point.....if they have a strong season this year and manage to develop their cloned car successfully throughout the remainder of the season next year could see them come out with a serious challenger.

But would they drop Stroll, the right thing to do?

Soooo.. apparently Vettel was offered the second Sauber seat as a gesture of goodwill, but politely declined....

Doesnt Ferrari now basically control Sauber, seeing as it’s Alfa Romeo?

How effectively would they be able to do that though? as in... it wasn’t their layout to start off with, and so they would need to “learn” the car by reverse engineering first to know how to develop it.

The new Aston Martin facilities afaik do not come into play yet, so would the RP facilities be able to outdevelop the machines it’s competitive with atm?

As in, Ferrari(?), RBR, etc

Yes.

He was "first choice" as a driver but they didn't have a vision of Sebastians high salary and questionable team dedication being compatible with their future. It didnt make sense to ask him to stay because they know how will not bow down to be number 2. They didn't wasn't to push him out in the cold without at least appearing to help him find further employment.... So... Yes.. It seems a cruel joke... But they would have offered him the Alfa seat.... Maybe..

What was Verstappen’s camp thinking of extending his contract until the end of 2023 when he could have had Bottas’ seat from 2021 onwards and finally have a car that is able to challenge for the title. As long as he stays with Red Bull he won’t have a car able to challenge for the title. Extremely stupid decision when basically half this forum was saying for years: go to Mercedes.

Hmm. Yeah. It might be a good Idea for Max to join Mercedes to learn from Lewis before Lewis retires. Lots of knowledge to pass on to a enthusiastic apprentice.

Like how to land a dominant seat for 7 straight years?
