Gardening as far as I know has never been involved with a driver, and solely with key personel from teams.
So that would imply somebody in a 'important function'.

That leaves some options open.

Regarding the repetitive 'talk' surrounding Wolff, i think that if there is anybody going on 'gardening' that then would be Wolff before filling in another function. But what?

He could go on gardening untill mid 2021 or even end 2021 to go to possibly Aston Martin for a 2022 stint.

However, that is based upon the fact that he aquired a stake, but that doesn't equal he's gonna run things there to be honest and quite frankly, why would he repeat what he accomplished with Mercedes recently? Sure, AM might slam a good buck on the table and they might be very serious about their intentions but i still wonder.

I RATHER wanted to think that, which has been mentioned before too, is to take the mantle from Jean Todt to become FIA president. Quite frankly i think he'd be a good fit, BUT i wonder whether it's really possible and whether he'd get accepted as such. There would be quite a margin bigger of concern regarding 'influence' for a 'Mercedes guy' filling the position compared to Todt who has quite some time passing since he was at Ferrari. So i'm really doubtfull that 'half a year' of gardening leave would be sufficient to fill the FIA precidency which has to be filled in 2021.

Neither would either really sound like a 'bombshell' honestly, as this has been discussed quite a lot.

what would be much BIGGER a bombshell.....in fact, almost like a hydrogen bomb,
would be if Toto would announce his resignation from Mercedes to go to FERRARI.
THAT would be a definate bombshell. AND Binotto's position is quite up for grabs right now.

It has been mentioned before too, that we could see a 'Brawn-Schumi' like scenario of Wolff and Hamilton to go to Ferrari. BUT, that would not fit with the contracts that LeClerc and Sainz have, and I really don't think Wolff would fit.

The only BOMBSHELL i could imagine being left would be if Wolff would go on gardening to join RENAULT with Alonso.
He has history with Ocon, and Alonso is offcourse a great driver, and it would be a very interesting move, and to be honest, would reason with Alonso's signing as i'm surprised Fernando signed whilst Abiteboul is there.

Raikkonen back to Ferrari, Vettel on 'gardening', sitting out 2020, and Mick Schumacher or Kubica taking Raikkonen's seat?

It's all speculation here though, but what bombshell could be out there regarding 'gardening' ?

The only 'big' news regarding ANY gardening i could come up with non-driver related would then be Newey going to Aston Martin which makes a lot of sense too, honestly.
Quite frankly, that would fit with Newey taking 'leave' for sufficient time to work on a 2022 car for Aston Martin.
Meanwhile, Aston Martin has 'Toto's' 2019 Mercedes to keep untill the end of 2021.

I AM very surprised about the intensity of the 'silly season' that is going on now.

Wolff not only acquired a 5% stake in AM, but also (again) in Williams, next to his 30% stake in the Mercedes team, so I don’t think he will be leaving.

Gardening... and bigger from a German site... still think it’s Vettel’s retirement which is called a sabbatical like it’s was for Hakkinen. Don’t think he will find a proper seat for 2021, leaving the door open for 2022. More drivers had this problem after being terminated by Ferrari. Alonso was lucky at least McLaren had an ambitious project back in ‘15

German journo Thursday morning bombshell (bigger than ALO to Renault) revelation.

Codeword: Gardening.

All I can think of is VET retiring or going to RBR immediately both.

Crazy Bombshell: Wolff, Newey, Hamilton to Aston Martin 2021.
Why is ALO tweeting at Seb that they will be together again soon? NO WAY RENAULT ANNOUNCES SEB REPLACING OCON RIGHT??

My guess is Vettel leaving Ferrari early. Either to RB or nowhere.
Gio replacing him at Ferrari and Kubica to Alfa.
Btw this journalist is the one who first reported that Vettel leaves Ferrari after 2020.
It's sad for Vettel. Imagine working somewher you know you got laid off from. But a contract is a contract.
Last dance! But no championship.

I can see Vettel replacing Kimi at Alfa.
Kimi is likely retiring this year.

The car is a dog but Seb says he can consider racing for fun. Alfa might be a good place for him to rebuild his confidence.

I do think there could be merit in the Wolff & Vettel to Aston story for 2022. We shall see though.

it is not Renault. Vettel go to RB. I even doubt Auston Martin. if both options are not available, he may sit out for next year.... then in 2020 come back to RB

Vettel has to up the game else it is difficult to get the seat. You cannot use the 4WCC which he got a while ago to get a seat with your current achievement. He does not proved him self in after rule change in RB and Ferrari. So it is earlier retirement for him.

I'm betting on Vettel's retirement and then all the moves happening essentially half a year sooner.

Is this a bomb-news we heard before?
I believe (and I have concrete information) that Helmut Marko was given the order by Dietrich Mateschitz to bring the "lost son" Vettel home by 2021 at the latest. Alexander Albon would then switch to AlphaTauri, Daniil Kwjat would lose his racing cockpit.
