Personally I don't think the racing will be as close as the FIA and FOM are boasting it will be.
Newey agrees with you. 41:20 to 42:30

Newey also thought the 2017-spec cars (influenced by RB/McLaren) would improve racing, and it really hasn't.

So Perez now saying that he has had an approach from another team if he is leaving RP...surely this can only be Alfa looking for a replacement for Kimi? Wonder when Kimi will announce his 2021 plans

If RP really wants Vettel, then perhaps Mercedes wants Perez. He already knows how to drive that car. :D

hind·sight is always 20/20. No matter how tight they make the rules, teams will find ways to gain downforce and performance, and that will always yield more dirty air for the cars behind to deal with.

I don't remember Newey saying that... I remember that everybody, drivers, teams, designers and press were on the assumption that shorter brake distances, higher downforce and wider cars would make overtaking even more difficult.

I think these cars are less nimble but the overtaking has been decent. Saying that, I am fairly satsified with the formula since 2009 but I agree following cars closer without burning out the tyres.

Definately HAAS.
Though Alfa Romeo is an option offcourse, as far as i am aware, Kimi is not intending to retire. That would mean he would replace Giovanazzi, but i think Ferrari is using that seat for upcoming drivers, and Mick Schumacher surely is knocking the door.

As for HAAS, they urgently need to get rid of Grosjean. I think Magnussen has served his time by now too, so either or both of them can take a hike imho. Perez is fast and experienced so will be worth more than Grosjean and Magnussen combined, AND he's faster than the both of them too, and that still leaves HAAS another seat if they wish - for example Fittipaldi.

Perez will indeed bring Carlos Slim money with TelMax, Claro, etc.
At a moment when HAAS is craving some sweet money.

I think it's a great combo too that'll work well. If Fittipaldi is able to bring some good sponsor money too then HAAS will be set well. Meanwhile, i wouldn't be surprised if HAAS will also sign a deal with Renault for parts and become their 'b team'.

I just read that Russell and Latifi will stay for 2021 so that's interesting, it means that the seat that Perez is 'opening up' will not be for Russell then, which to me is a bit surprising. Was expecting Latifi/Nissany for 2021.

That means it'll either be for Vettel, or for Bottas.
Or we're still in for another little shock treat but i can't imagine 'that' to be honest.

RedBull should sign him if they want to challenge Mercedes in the WCC any time soon.

VET? Spot on.
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

No. If they sign Vettel then they kiss goodbye to any championship hopes they have. Max and Seb will come to blows in the same team. Absolute certainty.

Vettel > Aston Martin
Albon > AlfaTauri
Kvyat > Dumped again

:wtf: quite frankly, the way 2020 has panned out, i couldn't even be surprised.
