Mercedes W11

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Whats with the red light in the garage?
Might be a light that makes flow Wiz easier to see
Can't be flow viz I think, since the car hasn't run on track yet.

Maybe a symbolic way of Lauda's spirit watching over the car as he's been part of the team's current success era.
Doesnt matter if they havent run yet, could just be to test the light before practice.

But yes, it could also be to spot hydraulic or coolant leaks

I presume this is what they are referring to. In the pics it looks like they are doing some sort of tests/instillation.

So apprently Mercedes are running their "normal" front suspension this weekend which is lighter than what they ran in Austria. They had to beef it up for the kerbs there as they were worried they would get a suspension failure.

Quite interesting, seems the kerbs there are quite a lot worse than most other tracks!

Oooh. It has a "T" wing under the rear upper wishbones!

Trailing rear lower wishbone is mounted very high to the gearbox to free up the airflow running under the gearbox.

Possibly something to let them know that a part of the electric ERS system is being worked on.

I guess that is T wing loophole right? Its similar like Williams tried out in 2017 with multiple t wings. But i m surprised if that legal box is so low.

Is there not more tyre grip available with DAS engaged?

EDIT: For the race start I mean; so DAS engaged off the line?
