That's a bit harsh on Perez. He's consistently shown to be able to snatch podiums whenever the opportunity arose, whether it was in a Sauber, Force India or Racing Point. The mishap at McLaren aside (which, arguably, can be blamed on the car), he's had a very consistent career.rogazilla wrote: ↑07 Dec 2020, 00:23I am of the opinion that Perez and Stroll ‘s form this year has much to do with the car. That said in any metric, stroll should be the one sacked or in actuality that Vettle should not be hired in racing points seat. I would like Red Bull to retain Albon and yes I am biased. However, to all the doubter, put checo in that seat and if he is truly close and match Max then I say good for him. My opinion, he will have the same gap to Max just like Gas and Alb. I think that’s why they kept Gas in AT because they know the quality of their drivers and the nature of their cars.
I still do favor Hulk over Perez because I do reckon Perez is more likely to get in trouble with Max occasionally, while RB needs someone fast yet willing to commit to a 2nd driver role. And, while teammates at FI, Hulk and Perez were pretty evenly matched in terms of base pace. But there is no doubt that when it comes to seizing the opportunity, Perez is the clear winner. That deservedly paid of this time, and I do think we can 'blame' that on the driver - at least the part that it's him finishing first and not Stroll, despite the first lap happenings.
