Wow... I wonder if other teams would come up with a similar floor solution. Also, funny thing, I was just watching lasagna recipes before going back to this thread... now all I see in that floor is lasagna edges.

I think the designer was thinking about lasagna too.

Maybe James Allison was having lunch with Aldo Costa, he made lasagna... and the rest is history

The floor of the W12 that Mercedes had not shown during the presentation. It is undoubtedly one of the most complex and complete solutions seen so far. As on other cars, the bottom does not follow a "linear" trend, but has a sort of cut

How easy will that floor solution be for other teams to implement, especially given this year's restrictions on CFD etc?

I think I read a few days ago that some teams can copy things like this in just a few (three I think they said) days. So it should be easy to copy even before the first GP. The bigger question is obviously whether these solutions will work at all on other cars.

Saw on an article saying that merc has not used the full amount of volume the diffuser is allowed. Is this a cause of their floor solution? And how much could it affect them compared to the others.

Other teams have similar philosophy, just different styles deflectors. Probably not so much of advantage for Mercedes.
