Alpine A521

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Another change on the new Alpine's front wing. The cape's foot has a slot and a different radius.

Ahem!

Shaaaady boy!

Comest thou forward! Haha

You can doubt a reflection, you can doubt a slot, but never doubt the little metal brakets! Haha
yeah, I was wrong.. though tbf more like a contoured groove than the lip/ledge other teams implemented.

those straight pins across the brakeduct opening are certainly not going to help with sandwich bags...you need different shapes to deflect bits and pieces from
air entries.
I'surprised nobody works on such things (deflectors for debris , guiding air only into the airscoops....that's not too hard to develop).

They do, and that's what most teams settle on to stop rubber debris with the minimum weight/aero sacrificed.

And the internal bodywork is more visible here, with its rather huge 'gurney flaps' placed at its trailing edge and going outwards. They are probably there to boost air extraction from the centerline cooling system exit area.

The flaps weren't there in Bahrain AFAIK.

Teams use them from time to time, but they usually put them on the outside bodywork...

So the sidepod internal flow must be quite powerful in this A521..

Maybe a firewall of sorts to prevent the heat of the turbine from radiating over to MGU-H and compressor as well? While limiting the cooling effect on the the turbine. Think heat is energy and the hotter the turbine is the more energy it creates?

They've been prototyping and testing a lot more parts than in the past, that's impressive.

Pretty cool, upgrades you can make with a saw and glue!
