Everyone in that Sainz to Gasly train got called in so I don't think there will be any movement there.
I wonder if they'll say "too many people needed to be punished so no one will be punished" this time too.
I think they'll all get penalized to be honest.
Everyone got off free. Clearly I was wrong.

Not all of them, Latifi and Mazepin got a 10s stop and go and three points. GAS, RIC, GIO, LEC, SAI and Perez no further action.

What's Maz point count up to these days? If there's one guy who can make these 12 points it's got to be him.

Silverstone will be a walk in the park for RB, regardless of the updates Merc bring. The RB won there last year in an inferior car, remember.

What race were you watching ? Mercedes won the race on three wheels

Buxton saying Lewis damaged his car when he ran over kerbs in Turn 10? Any video of this?
I don't believe a word Mr.Wolff says.
"Sebastian there's very, you're a member of a very select few.. Stewart, Lauda, Piquet, Senna, Prost, Schumacher, Fangio.. VETTEL!"

Think he was referring to the second race there when Merc were still on pole by around 1s but overheated the softer tires with balloon pressures (as a result of the failures the week before) during the race.

As an aside, Max’s drive was nothing special today. Same for last week.

Easy to win when you have the fastest car.

Actually, no. Everyone that had said that when Hamilton was dominating was an idiot for saying so. Hopefully now that they’ve changed their tune solely because someone else is winning, they recognize it takes a fast car and a talented driver to control and dominate a race.

Someone pointed out to me that Lewis was 6 tenths of a second slower a lap after the damage, around lap 29 I think?

Easy to verify the statement. I believe some words Toto says.

Pirelli?. Lap Sainz?. Sainz, Gasly and Verstappen were the fastest drivers on the track at that time lapping around 1.08.1 1.08.0, 1.07.9 at that time.
Yes and yes, comfortable lead setting fastest laps on used hards, just like Baku. But we know what happened in Baku, don't want none of that Pirelli drama. When Max pitted for his 2nd stop he was catching Sainz on lap 60 having set fastest lap on lap 59. Suffering a DNF through no fault of his own in such a dominating performance would be a farce is what I'm saying. Though Toto and MB fans keep reminding that another DNF for Max would neutralize the lead. At this point the only thing that would cause that is another Pirelli failure.

He's on 5 now, took him just 9 races.
Perez and Norris leading with 8 going into Silverstone.

Not a bad race, great to see Lando up there fighting it out, without the penalty he could have been P2! At least the FIA were consistent and penalised Perez when he did the same thing to Leclerc, twice!

Max is driving incredibly well, I think he's basically running away with the WDC now. I would be astounded if Max isn't WDC at the end of the season, it's pretty much a forgone conclusion now.

EDIT: I'm hearing Lando got two penalty points? So surely Perez got four?

I think that the penalties were 'ok', not necessarily ones that needed to be given but still covered by the rules ... the main issue i see is that Perez attacked Lando in T1, lost out (wasn't properly along side at the apex) yet kept the foot in, essentially overtook him off track but lost the drag race to Lando who then had a compromised line since he had to defend on the inside which allowed Checo to attack him around the outside in the first place - but that probably falls under "we ignore the rules on the first lap and the first corner after an SC restart".

The penalties for outside passers running out of track aren't right, especially if there's no contact. It's like basic racing since forever that when you're outside you're going to run of track if the inside car just follows the normal racing line. Penalties are okay if you intentionally bump the guy outside or he is clearly ahead, like a half a car. If just braking deep and going to the outside means the inside car needs to lift and take a tighter line then they are going to pass every time.

I always thought 'the rule' was (used to be) on the outside at least fully alongside, on the inside halfway alongside, otherwise yield.

I think you have to look at each situation in its entirety, and make a decision everytime. Like a judge does also if the law system is working correctly. You cannot make simple hand rules that will always work. If that were possible it would be preferable, but it isn’t and we will have to accept some case by case (inconsistency).

It was a close call this one. Last year with Lewis on Albon was much more clear (to me) and even that one was hotly debated. I think that the fact that Sergio was so ahead before they came to the corner but Lando braked himself back was why they gave it. It wasn’t a lunge in desperation by Sergio, more that Lando was trying to hold on to something that would end like it did. That is imho why they gave it. Was is absolutely Needed? No, did it impact Sergio’s race a lot, yes.was it a good move? No. Hard hard hard. Glad I am not a steward.
