As McLaren was running lower, didn't they have a big advantage in wet quali? I assume all cars were relatively high from the ground because of the lower speeds. And this is not a gradual effect.

Could be 2021 Abu Dhabi repeating again.....F1 want to make race interesting.....but it seems artificial.... I am not interested this year WDC as even F1 can make equal points with Noris and Max with next race in Qatar. and do 2021 kid of thing in Abu Dhabi. I will bet something interesting will happen in next race in a week.....

Also they need to check all the cars skid plate. There is some speculation going in AM team post and seems Alonso also not happy with how FIA checking the car and some team are escaping from penalty.

Just goes to show never give up. If Max can pull it off, man, that would be something. it was noticed during the race the Mcl had the most sparks. Was it ever made clear what issue Norris was managing? Did they notice the plank wear?

Yes, clearly. They know, how hot the skid blocks run. Hotter means more scraping. I think that is also why Ferrari does so much lift and coast. To prevent wearing over the limit. They too got a DSQ this year for the same reason.

You bet. Liberty are keen to provide a show at any cost or with any perversion they can generate.

What is required is not some strange twist or intervention to make a result but genuine racing.
Get rid of Pirelli or make them provide a tyre that runs for full length of the race.
Force cars to start with enough fuel for whole race flat out and let them race.
Just race from start to finish at highest speed that is what F1 was designed around.

Apparently, Macca is arguing force majeure due to a bumpy track according to @LucianoYoma —essentially, that external factors beyond their control caused the wear, rather than a deliberate rules violation.

They're claiming the Vegas track's unique conditions (bumps, curbs, and possibly debris or incidents during the race) led to unavoidable excessive wear.

Sky Sports F1's Ted Kravitz reported: "When the rear-most skid block is less than 9mm, there's very little McLaren can do to try and claim force majeure or that something was happening. They are trying that, as we understand."

Macca defense aims to show the breach wasn't due to an illegal setup but unforeseen circumstances.

They even argued that their breach was degree lower than previous (like Ferrari in China)

Mclaren will have to run their car higher next race. They can't risk a DSQ again, thus they will be slower. Good chances for Max.
