I'll just quote myself. This isn't the first time he said "he might do something in the America's Cup" and doubt he'll go there when he still gets his big bag of cash

Lol, Sky collared Newey's and his son after the race and badgered him into admitting that he finds Americas Cup design very interesting.

Cue, Newey to retire from F1.

This isn’t new. Newey said the same in 2011, and his interest in the America’s Cup dates back to his days at McLaren. http://www.formula1.com/news/interviews ... 12187.html

What’s happened is that a journalist from the Telegraph asked him if he’d thought about when he’ll do when he stops working in F1.
Adrian Newey wrote: “I’m 54 now and there are lots of other things I would like to be involved in,” the Briton concedes over a coffee in India’s paddock.

“At some stage, I’m not exactly sure when, I do feel it will be time to become involved in other things.”

It’s an acknowledgement that time does move on, every year that goes past is year closer to him retiring from F1. It’s a non-committal bears poop in the woods comment. You’d get the same response from anyone at a similar age who's been in high profile job for a long time.

This reminds me of Sir Alex Ferguson who was perpetually about to retire according to journalists. Then when he did retire it took everyone by surprise.

I think it would be something he'd like to do and I think it would be something Red Bull wouldn't mind doing either.
