That's a harsh response.
Are people really disgusted that much by what he says?
The sport needs this attitude.
No. It doesn't. At all. Doesn't even make sense.
Professional drivers, representing professional organizations and top-dollar sponsors, have no need to be a prick.
How is he a prick, are you basing this on the words "blown away"? What about the other 95% of the interview?
And why does Johnie Walker, a top dollar sponsor, promote and encourage the prick side of Hamilton? They were probably the ones who milked that comment out of him.
If he is a prick, and it motivates him, then so be it. I have no problem with that, he has earned the right to say what he wants. Any other driver is free to dispute his claims by beating him if they can.
I will accept that he blew alonso away on the basis of his debut season performance alone; Alonso was not destroyed by any means though.
On the other hand the points score also does not say much about the events that took place in the races over the season, so i didn't restrict the definition of "blown away" to a points tally, i looked at the memorable moments over the season.
Hamilton is also not delusional or psychotic, there must be some reasoning for his comments. He was the one working with Alonso, so they know each other better than any of us know them. He can look Alonso eye to eye and know within him self he had Alosno's ticket. What's more Hamilton could also have team data presented to him by his engineer in conclusion of his ideas. We may never know the background to his choice of words, this is why i wont be quick to judge him as a prick.
I listened to the whole 20 minutes of the interview, and i learned more about his perseverance and a little about his past. It also increased my anticipation for the new season.
The blown away statement put a smirk on my face more than anything.
