They can if it was the first new spec of the season, no?
Ferrari just did something similar.

It could get his time deleted so he'll end at the back. Unless Mercedes can prove it was caused by damage.zibby43 wrote: ↑13 Nov 2021, 09:46A few mm on the DRS isn’t going to give 4 tenths.Sieper wrote: ↑13 Nov 2021, 00:23Or, so it seems now, the new Ice is not as magical as it seemed but they opened the DRS too far. In fact, as Scarbs pointed out, it can induce drag.
Regardless, if it’s out of spec, it’s out of spec. Unless Max did it when breaking the ISC.
Let’s see what the verdict is.
If FIA clears Hamilton for someone touching the car, it will be end of the season, cause it will be obvious FIA is going to do everything in order to promote first 8-th time GOAT.e30ernest wrote: ↑13 Nov 2021, 10:45It could get his time deleted so he'll end at the back. I heard Max is also being summoned allegedly for touch Lewis' car. There's footage of him fiddling with Lewis' RW. That might be the card that gets Lewis through but I doubt it.
More likely they want to keep the championship fight alive until the final race, cos that's good for viewing figures. They probably also want to avoid having the Stewards effectively decide the WDC. Especially given the fan responses to Silverstone and Monza.restless wrote: ↑13 Nov 2021, 13:38If FIA clears Hamilton for someone touching the car, it will be end of the season, cause it will be obvious FIA is going to do everything in order to promote first 8-th time GOAT.e30ernest wrote: ↑13 Nov 2021, 10:45It could get his time deleted so he'll end at the back. I mean, even if he did recover to say - 5th (which I find rather far fetched), he'd start the race in 10th. On a second thought, that would actually be alright. but if he ends up in 8th-9th in the sprint, I guess it's better to take an entirely new PU, and start from the back, instead of in 13th-14th.
