What do you think, can the A522 gills auto-open as its implemented in RB. Even if there's no need to use them with that cooling system
This sounds like moveable aero, so no.

alpine mainly tests the engine here, only in Bahrain there will be a racing package
No team has the race 1 package here in Barcelona.
Nobody has race 1 aero package here unless you are working on a shoestring...

Pat Fry said that the aero ideas of other teams are already being analyzed and there will be an update for the second test in Bahrain. This raises the question of how much unused budget and allowed time in the wind tunnel is left. it is also not clear why they didn't fix DRS

They didnt have the extended, faux-bargeboard strake on the outside of the inlets during the test as shown on the renders.

Very basic, this is clearly the first iteration, there's no curve or 3d shapes, you're allowed a fair bit of freedom in designing those strakes.
Looks like for at least the private shakedown they used the version of the floor from the renders

As seen from the onboard and also from 1:05 of the video where the Microsoft logo is still visible

Alpine also appears to have that Ferrari style two part nose it splits just after the FIA logo.. also noticed something similar on the Red Bull

In this video at 19 seconds in, when they switch to the onboard camera, you can see the big bargeboard wobbles a lot on both sides of the car. (look in the window underneath the Castrol logo on the halo). That looks like a problem. Maybe that is why they removed it. It's not stiff enough. That would probably draw some eyes from rival teams for moveable aero device.

In this video you can see the big bargeboard wobbles a lot in the beginning. That is not good.
Probably why they took it off.. reports coming in some teams are struggling with this bounce phenomenon as they try to flex the floor and have it run closer to the ground.

Clearly some teams are more on top of it than others at this stage

It’s what testing is for I’m confident teams will get to the bottom of it. Some quickly came with temporary metallic re-enforced floor strakes to quickly remedy the problem at this test from shakedown.

Alpine had there shakedown pretty late so any teething problems will be more noticeable.

Yeah, that's not what he said. Try reading the story and not just the headlines.

A whole lot of Posts has been moved to the Team Thread. Testing Strategy, Laptimes... none of this belongs in the Car Thread.

Esteban did a run with aero rakes this morning

"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe." Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

09:29 "Back to the hot topic of porpoising. The Alpine doesn’t appear to suffer from it at all as it approaches top speed into Turn 1. It’s rock solid. But there appears to be a trade off for that granite-like set-up in that Ocon keeps locking up the front-left into the slow, cambered Turn 5. The tyre is very easily unloaded by the weight transfer. Come to mention it, Alonso did so frequently yesterday afternoon, too."
