Mercedes also submitted that it had a new floor edge detail for Mexico, although this was only to be used as a test item on an older specification of the floor for Nyck de Vries’ car in FP1.
Does anybody have some pictures and info about this new floor edge?

Here is a good comparison, but most of the differences I see can be explained by De Vries' old specification (pre-France) floor - especially the floor edge wing's geometry and absent vortex generators in this section:

However, the most notable difference between Nyck's FP1 setup and the Mercedes' car from the rest of the season is the lack of floor stay for Nyck. It could be that they're testing a more sturdy rear floor section such as with an internal strut system, similar to what RB have run all season, hence the lack of need for the external floor stay. Or that could be inconsequential - not sure but if I had to guess it'd be the rear floor section

Now he has signed for a rival maybe they limited his exposure by fitting old spec parts.

What is TD39 and how have they risked 2023?

TD39 is the technical directive that applied to the plank below the car. After the TD was implemented, Ferrari appears to have been affected.

They risked 2023 because they spent a lot of time in 2022 trying to figure out what the W13 was doing and why. They could have swapped to a Red Bull or Ferrari-type design instead but they decided to carry on with their own concept - thus the risk because if they couldn't figure it out they would have run out of time to develop a new concept for 2023.

Reading between the lines, but that suggests the external body & cooling concepts will remain very similar for 2023 (most teams will have their put a full stop in on their initial 2023 designs by now).
I’m expecting a different floor and rear suspension package from them, although the big winglet/SIS cover/mirror mount is very offensive!!

Yes, it's not the best looking device ever seen on a racing car. But that's what they have to do to keep it legal, unfortunately.

In the unlikely even that the W14 hits the track half a second quicker than the nearest competitor, what odds on "the wing mirror thing" suddenly being the subject of protests?

If it’s legal, it’s legal.

Until the FIA decides its not anymore, FRIC, and mass dampers being good examples!

And the front wing from a couple races ago.

I can see rules around the mirrors being tightened up - especially given the larger mirrors come 2023, which could be used for greater aero effect.
Mess with the Bull - you get the horns.

As chris90 mentions, the Merc front wing. That was all good and legal according to the FIA right up until someone complained. Then, suddenly, it's not legal. Par for the course with F1.

I remember the double diffuser row, where Ferrari (in particular) were arguing that the double diffuser was illegal. They mentioned that the hole in the transition between the step and reference planes was illegal. When it was pointed out that their previous cars - including championship winning cars - had a similar hole using similar interpretations and thus must be illegal, they agreed. Anything for an advantage this season, don't worry about previous years. (for clarity, the hole was the one that fed the central tall diffuser with air from the lower side diffuser channels).

That's F1 for you.

Looking from the plan view, the sweep backwards of the leading y axis edges, does that cause a spill off necessitating the large endplates but have a big advantage another way? question without notice from a decidely non aero bloke.
