They have absolutely no idea what is going on the car

Maybe this slight change in aero direction really is better, but they will achieve nothing with this suspension. They have no control over tyre behaviour at all, nothing suggests otherwise.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

So to sum up the SF 23 has:

- Unexpected understeer compared to the simulations done during the winter
- Huge tyre degradation
- Inconsistent behaviour across different compounds and fuel loads during the race

- strategy and operations department still far bellow the championship-winning level

Exactly like Mercedes last year. Don’t know what to do to set the car up correctly, semi competitive one week and miles off the week after. Can’t understand the stops for leclerc today, something not set up right on that car. Lots of work to do

Imo their tyre issue is related to the suspension, also the core reason everything falls into place for RB is their suspension.

Until this improves sidepods, floor, mirrors, new horn nothing will make sense

Tyres tyres tyres, i don't understand why is it so difficult for them

Leclerc after the race
The first stint we had the hard, which we expected to be a good tyre, but for some reason it was so bad. Like, no grip at all, especially from the front. The limitations were completely different to qualifying, today we were more expecting this, but then for some reason the second hard [tyre] I just do exactly the same thing and it feels really good.

“So for some reason we seem to never really get in the right window of the tyre and when we do, it’s a bit of a surprise to us. So there’s a lot of work we need to do.”

Stopped watching at lap 30. Very hard to swallow the 'strong quali' rhetoric race after race where both drivers sink without any recourse. The Scuderia's technical team has a lot to answer for.

Second stint was probably better because the fuel load was lighter but nothing seemed competitive on the car. So much work to do, and now Merc are competitive it’s going to be an uphill struggle

It's both kind of embarassing that Ferrari is the only of the top cars that lifts in both 3 and 9, and a little bit impressive that it still can beat anyone that isn't RB around a lap.
Leclerc had a bit of a lift in 12 too.
The car is also the one that it's still a little bit affected by porpoising on the straights.

Did they set the car too low for qualy, so that it sits at the perfect height for the race? I'm talking about that theory that in the race cornering gets slower and with less downforce pushing it down the car raises a bit.
If it was too low in quali it's going to much too low with 110kg of fuel on board 🤣
Static ride height doesn't change much on high fuel, in fact Ferrari has had an issue with dynamic ride height changes, when the car is loaded with fuel they don't reach their targeted loads which means the car is running much higher than in qualy.
How could the car be higher with more weight, without active suspension?

Hmm. I think simplifying problem now should be priority. In race weekend just run single compounds without any tweaking. Essentially redo whole tire mapping with latest updates as benchmark. Essentially all session use as extensive long stints for tire testing. Even FP3. Qually is just aftertought with SOFT.

Essentially same Merc did lastyear when they first 5-6 races stopped ALL updates and started clean slate with GF understanding and car setup.

Tho can they use active suspension as addon in Free practice to test harmonics, dynamics and platform control. In order to test ideas for passive suspension behaviour? Just throwing stupid idea around.

Yep kinda right but still relatively LEC in SAI barely faster than AM, ALP in race pace. So yeah... A lot of work for Italians. Merc was .3 faster at minimum.

If you wanna have a good laugh just compare the lap times of Leclerc in 2022 and Sainz in 2023 during the first stint, then do the same with Russell 2022 and Lewis 2023.

Small spoiler: Ferrari improved by around 1s (without considering the layout changes), while Mercedes close to 3 seconds. :D :D :D :D :D

So… I’ve seen here often, it’s been easy and somewhat common to bash on Binotto. He was too soft, too stubborn, made too many mistakes, and so on. But looking back, under his leadership Ferrari managed to get through the engine penalties with the sf90, did a better job with the new regulations than all teams except one with the F175, and managed enough of a correction from the TD39 fiasco to hold onto 2nd in the constructors. I, as a Ferrari fan for a few decades, at least felt we were going in the right direction. Sure, a few bumps… but improvement. I feel that now we are either standing still or going backwards. Mercedes was a broken team last year; Aston was not even close, now they’ve both leapfrogged us. And now even Alpine is on our heels. It just seems the team is more lost now since Mattia’s departure.
