If Max does leave F1 then like Schumacher and Alonso he’ll probably find there’s nothing else like it outside.LHamilton wrote: ↑04 Nov 2023, 21:55If sprint races are here to stay, I dont think we will see to much more of Verstappen in F1. He seems to be very critical of it and has said that he would race something else in the future. If he isnt satisfied with the race format, he might go to other series sooner rather than later. Series that doesnt have that "show-before-race" factor to it that F1 is venturing into now with sprints. Would be quite damning for F1 if Verstappen would walk sooner than his 2028 contract.
Merc's current setup may have very small operating windows and any change in wind direction and air temperature will throw them off course.organic wrote: ↑05 Nov 2023, 01:19I wouldn't be surprised if Merc going conservative on the ride height is hurting them here. The suggestion that the ride heights they ran at Austin didn't give them anything on the performance side seem doubly daft now
Ferrari seemed to be fine with balance and pace. They just had to manage constantly the temps due to cooling mistake
I will be very cooler tomorrow...organic wrote: ↑05 Nov 2023, 01:19I wouldn't be surprised if Merc going conservative on the ride height is hurting them here. The suggestion that the ride heights they ran at Austin didn't give them anything on the performance side seem doubly daft now

This, in comination with their deg, shows Mercedes have a serious problem for the race! Unless they go for hards (which is unlikely given the delta to the medium and soft), they only have one new tyre available for a 2 stop race and they have to use a medium which has done 2 pushlaps in qually....search wrote: ↑05 Nov 2023, 10:21Tires left for the race:

There's nothing in the rules which explains why Alfa has less than others, but it was the same last week. I guess they just prefer to keep their garage tidy.
According to f1.com, the expected offset between S and M is 0.3s in the race, and 0.85s between M and H, leading to these possible strategies:

Winning in a sport like F1 can take a lot of effort, even in a dominant car. Ask Rosberg. I’m not sure how much prep Verstappen needs, Rosberg suggested he had to be pouring over data for days between races and spending hours in the sim to even take the fight to Hamilton, Hamilton would just turn up almost. Kirkwood has said the same about being Herta’s teammate in Indycar. Maybe Verstappen can just turn up, I’ve never heard any detail about that aspect of his driving. I’d like to know.Chuckjr wrote: ↑05 Nov 2023, 08:46Lol. Not.LHamilton wrote: ↑04 Nov 2023, 21:55If sprint races are here to stay, I dont think we will see to much more of Verstappen in F1. As long as Max is winning he will stay. All the talk of leaving is just that — talk. F1 drivers are all highly addicted to winning, and if they can win every weekend, they won’t walk away from that fix. Furthermore, records help make a driver timeless, and the more records Max can set/break, the more timeless he will become. He is well aware of this. This is once in a lifetime stuff, and rest assured, Max will ride that wave for all its worth.
