More like for an illusion of safety. Just imagine what the FIA would do if someone gets seriously injured or dies anyway? Cancel wet running? Fast turns? Speed limiter?langedweil wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 02:49Not that I have any desire for another penalty, but qualies get cancelled, SC's get on track because of rain, penalty points are given because one jumps a fabricated VSC ending by 0.063s ... all for safety, all to avoid the slightest chance of another Bianchi scenario.
What is this about? It might have escaped my attention.langedweil wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 02:49But yet we keep driving and swapping drivers while a driver is walking 50cm next to a seriously wet track, and just fine a Mickey Mouse sum when the safety measures around a restart are are not followed. It's kinda ridiculous ...
1st part is ridiculous, 2nd is sprint and race related .. pretty clear I'd say.mzso wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 20:51More like for an illusion of safety. And by the way, Since the Bianchi crash was a driver failure, they should scrutinize reckless driving. (The Hubert crash was also because of reckless driving and the FIA trademark paved danger run-offs...)

So turns out from a Ferrari press release that Ferrari used 2 extra tires purely for the grid formation (lap from pits to grid) and not during the race due to a small mistake.Cs98 wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 00:56Rules are never 100% adapted for every scenario, hence we have stewards. They obviously decided there were mitigating circumstances here. Personally IDC about the ruling because the infringement carries zero sporting benefit, it's a pure pre-race technicality, unlike the example you brought up with the endurance race.
Couldnt make any sense, but this is WEC right ?dialtone wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 22:33So turns out from a Ferrari press release that Ferrari used 2 extra tires purely for the grid formation (lap from pits to grid) and not during the race due to a small mistake.Cs98 wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 00:56Rules are never 100% adapted for every scenario, hence we have stewards. No sporting advantage was gained from this. 4 minutes 55 seconds penalty.
I repeat, embarrassing stewarding.
Yes, that's WEC. Mentioning because it happened this weekend as well and due to a minor procedural mistake Ferrari was docked a 2nd place. And hey, they made the mistake so shame on them. Somehow though this only applies to Ferrari.langedweil wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 23:30Couldnt make any sense, but this is WEC right ?
But indeed, stewarding based on outcome (after the race) is ridiculous, especially when about safety ..
Sad for them, but rightly so.dialtone wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 23:32Yes, that's WEC. That's your taste. I love the Sky coverage.

If you're wondering, why Alonso is included: I typically create an excel for TOP 8 after 3rd race, so that the field is converged to the more realistic pecking order. And after Australia ALO was 8th, but I felt like I shouldn't omit HAM just yet.
