Oscar will be a liability in the race with that sort of pace. Lando needs to drive clear if they find themselves in that situation on the actual race.

Props on him for giving away a sprint win to repay Oscar though
We will see. It's sprint so the setup may not yet work the way he likes. Definitely much slower today though, but in part from following Lando. His laptimes would have been quicker if he didn't have dirty air, but he would have at least returned to 3rd.

ow give him a break - I know he gets a bit overexcited, but the guy is most definitely a Mclaren fan through thick and thin - which I appreciate

If we can get 10 points over ferrari in the main race, id be a happy chappy

Nicely managed by Lando I have to say, that was definitely NOT easy to do for the whole race. I bit worried for the race pace now. Lando's got pace, but I am not so sure about Osc. Luckily they can adapt the car ahead of quali again and make it better for the race tomorrow.

Well executed sprint race, especially from Lando.

I dare say they may make some setup tweaks to shed some drag before qualifying, Merc a real threat.

If that’s how it will be in the race then Oscar is a dead weight. Not worth giving rivals undercut chances by bunching up the field.

Yea incredibly well managed by Lando.
Looks like a 1-2 in the main race will be a bit of a stretch.
I’m not even confident for pole or later today either.

I’m pretty sure Lando will just bomb off tomorrow if Oscar is behind him again

Understandable strategy but cringey ending.

I wouldn't say cringe. Dangerous ending due to how close Russell was but cringe is far from it. More like emotional as Lando is a gentleman.

Agreed, this DRS 'match fixing' is only viable for couple of laps, not the whole race. Noone will blame NOR if he just disappears.

I have not seen many people call it cringey, but you are allowed to have an opinion of your own. :)

Feel the same. It's perfectly justified after the Brazilian shenanigans, but something the sport does not need.

Won't be surprised if Team Orders come under review by the FIA next year after so many blatant result fixes by McLaren. This is the 3rd race they changed the winner of through T.O.

The betting shops (and F1 sponsors) won't like that.

I don't think the FIA is gonna do anything. After all it's not the first time that happened. Ferrari are masters on fixing results at near the finish line (Austria 2002, Indianapolis 2005). Nothing happened then and I don't think anything will happen now unless they forbid team orders but then the teams will find a loophole to that rule just like in the 2010s with code sentences (Fernando is faster than you, Valteri this is James etc etc). At worst the team will get a fine.

It wasn't a team order, its something they agreed before hand. In the race they told Lando not to swap because george was too close, but he did it anyway.

I enjoyed the sentiment.

If we get 15 points over Ferrari tomorrow we are WCC in Qatar. "All" we need is 1-2 to be sure of it.

10 over would be almost a done deal, to lose it you would need Ferrari 1-2 in Abu Dhabi and McLaren to score less 4 or less (I am probably a point off).
