I'd take 5 over, 35 ahead with 44 left on the table would be almost guaranteed WCC.

Yeah, if we finish ahead of them then it looks good for the WCC.

If the team needs to get the championship they have to do everything they can to get it from this race as there are too many factors on the last race that can happen. Let's not forget the engines are many races old. It's best to finish it now.

Understandable strategy but cringey ending.
Feel the same. It's perfectly justified after the Brazilian shenanigans, but something the sport does not need.

Won't be surprised if Team Orders come under review by the FIA next year after so many blatant result fixes by McLaren. This is the 3rd race they changed the winner of through T.O.

The betting shops (and F1 sponsors) won't like that.
They are damned if they do, damned if they don't. I don't like it much but if it was like Lando said, his own gesture, it's OK I guess.....

It has to be said GR and Mercedes have genuinely found their mojo, not just track and temp related. McLaren will need to look at a different setup for the race or they will be vulnerable.

Kinda interesting I noticed Oscar never thanked Lando directly, when commenting on the sprint he mentioned great team work and such. Probably does not mean anything ofcourse, just something I found interesting.

Team orders were not to change the positions....
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

I that the amount of "generosity" required from Lando was more substantial than he'd like. He was clearly embarrassed

Team orders are not good for anyone, the team, the drivers, or the fans. There is literally zero emotion showing by anybody when this happens. That ‘good’ feeling you get doesn’t happen

Of course, all that is forgotten about if the title is won at the end of the season… the ‘good’ felling becomes a ‘great’ feeling, and lasts at lot longer for everyone (except the other driver)

So in the long run, it could be worth it, but in this case it did not happen, so what Lando did made Lando & the team happier, but I doubt it did anything for Oscar as it makes no difference in the long term and he knows he didn’t really win

It was just a nice thing to do, but like you say, it's meaningless at this point.

Probably a bit too much being read into it all.

We go again soon, hopefully we have a strong setup and some good qualy positions.

Ferrari look quite capable of a 1/2 at Abu Dhabi, and lets be honest, McLaren on an off day are quite capable of a low points finish there too. I'd be nervous as hell going there needing more than a 6 points

I was a bit taken aback but, i have no issues with the change.

Also, it's a team sport, having issues with team orders seems a bit odd.

Lando said in his interview that he intended to give the position to Piastri as a payback from Brazil and that it wasn't a team order. Kudos to him. He might not be full championship material for now but he is the driver I would prefer to have in a team. Clean and respectful to others (especially teammates).

Less than an hour left for Race Qualifying. Let's see if the team can find an even better set up for Qualifying.

It was. I changed all the colours of the rainbow when I saw him do it thinking that he had a problem with the engine.
