hopefully theyll a/b the upgrades in p1 and have both cars running it during the race? has anybody heard if they brought enough for both cars? fingers crossed that its successful this time. like diffuser has said in the past, they should have the most to gain with their simple floor.

Doesn't matter what we think, it's what will happen.

I'm just hoping for the best.

I think the single most important part of the car for speed in the current regs is the floor. I'M just really hoping for positive signs. To me that would come in a fairly significant step. Like something that would take them out of the clutches of the 5 and down group.
The suspension, especially rear, seems to be the real performance difference though in this regulation set.

Keeping the platform stable is more important for a wider downforce range than the amount of downforce the floor produces.
Definitely not, the floor is producing the most downforce in this regulation. The suspension and brake ducts are only the real game changer if you’re already at your limit aerodynamic wise . Like McLaren etc.
i bet most the teams could pile on more downforce but choose not to because their cars would drive like shizz. the suspension is incredibly important in these ground effects cars. weve seen dozens of times over the last couple of years, that a team adds downforce, only for the car to be undriveable because of porpoising. the amount of usable downforce a car has is limited by what the suspension is doing. im sure that its a bit of everything causing it, but the suspension is a very integral part for every car these days. redbull (newey) knew that from the start, and thats why they were blowing the doors off of everyone for 2.5 years.

They said each driver would run the upgrades in 1 Free Practice while the other doesn't for comparison. They didn't say they were doing it cause they didn't have enough parts. I would presume they'll both run the upgrades on Saturday and Sunday.

Alonso was not informed by the team about Stroll driving with new package first.... and he learned it through media

He knew....but historicaly when he starts to use media for this kind of messages he is unhappy or on his way out.

Stroll less than a tenth behind Alonso so far. Pretty sure he would be further off if Alonso had the same car, so promising for the updates so far.

It's better to get the package in the second free practice. Its more likely that weather temperature at that time is more representative of quali and race day than FP1.

Remember, first isn't always better!

Both will drive it in fp2 (if it works), according to the team.

That’s a non topic for me, last year ALO got the update in FP1 in Imola.

It looks quicker so hopefully Alonso gets it in P2
