In any case the Aston car has a lot of ideas, probably because they had a shitton of tunnel time compared to other front runners and I am curious to see if they can start as a frontrunner and fight for podiums and wins.
Call a spade, a spade.

You shouldn't diminish the effect of experience and brilliance. Someone needs to make the big decisions. And that's where it matters, a lot. Ferrari had all the budget and people and infrastructure they wanted since forever.
Yet, the last time they won was in 2007 and even that was a McLaren blunder/handout.
It’s hilarious to look where McLaren and Red Bull were before Newey.
McLaren before Newey were already a multiple WCC winning team.

I've said many times that being an aero engineer in a team where Newey works must be an awful feeling sometimes.

You could be the person who comes up with an innovative solution, which ends up on the car and all the public credit will go to..... Newey....
Let's look at McLaren previous seasons before Newey became the TD:
- 1994 --> P4 in the WDC/WCC
- 1995 --> P7 WDC / P4 WCC
- 1996 --> P5 WDC / P4 WCC
- 1997 --> P3 WDC / P4 WCC

Newey becomes TD:
- 1998 --> P1 WDC / P1 WCC

Pure aura

Anyone worried about the upper wishbones on the rear suspension failing if another driver hits the back end of the car? I wonder how strong the rear-wing pillar has to be in order to keep the wishbones intact.
There is a rear crash structure and rear crash structure test they have to pass.
It looks like the VCARB has the same rear upper wishbone mounting system as Aston Martin with a stub above the gearbox. It sort of reminds me of the old front suspension keel mount for the lower wishbone, as on the Ferrari F2005.
Pretty sure RBR ran it 10 years ago or so.

They rumors today said us Aston take a last minute decision and canceled their filming day today in Barcelona and they will back to the UK, because they want work in the car por reduce the weight, they would be overweight by a consider margin.

30hp is a huge deficit. No amount of aero wizardry is closing that power gap.

Just a thought…

What if AM’s bodywork opening aren’t there by design, but by necessity, because the cars running hotter than expected

I.e They are a temporary solution, to allow them to attend Barcelona

That was the gap Renault had compared to Ferrari from 2010 to 2013.

i was thinking thats probably the case, at least to some extent, since the engine cover is pretty easy to change. probably just playing it safe to get some laps in at first.they may plan to change that depending on the track or temps.

i was wondering why they would do a "filming day" before they even have a livery on it. obviously to get more laps, but if they actually wanted to film any of it for sponsors, they would need to add the paint in post. itd probably be a big headache if it was even possible at all

It would make more sense too to use the filming day when there are actuators on the car.

Maybe they decided they don't need a filming day that much. Or the they can apply sponsorship with AI later or or or....

"Filming days" are just a cover for testing anyway so I'm sure they would run the black car if it made sense. If they cancelled it, they must have figured a later date would be more beneficial.

The car has a few solutions of its own, yes, just like any other car we have seen so far. People can chill a bit until we have better images...
I think there is an equal amount of people who are very eager to see Aston struggling so they can discredit Newey and say he isnt all that. The car could have two fighter Jet engines mounted at the back and there would have still been people saying that its nothing special.

Interesting engineering solutions from "Newey".... :)
