Was on mclaren.com, first run was on used tires

He was on used tyres for the first run though...
That was a Lazenby gaff. He announced that on the Sky broadcast but the F1 tool clearly showed Sainz had new tires.
It wasn’t a gaffe... via TeamStream

Carlos fairs up and goes. He's running an old set of Soft tyres for this run – saving his final new set for the last attempt of the session.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Don't know what to tell you... that contradicts what the F1 tool showed.

Only 1 set of softs with 5 laps. Both runs happened in Q1.

Not trying to be argumentative... But the F1 tool has been wrong before (to the point of showing even the wrong compound)... I believe that the TeamStream information says more than the F1 app.

What I find interesting is that today, S2 was were the team lost some time... Could they have gone for a higher downforce setup thinking about the race and potential rain tomorrow? Compromised qualifying because of it?

Even when Lando missed to get out of Q1, the margin was pretty small to P15 and getting through... With such a tight midfield, small mistakes cost big... I’m hoping the team thought more about the race and hopefully the conditions play a role.

P7 was the max today, but I expect SAI to be much better in the race compared to GRO and even RAI, as for NOR I'm disappointing with his performance, he has been on the back foot all weekend so far, it will be very hard race for him tomorrow.

Could Lando have been used as the test mule this weekend? Carlos has been doing the bulk of the testing of future updates over the past weekends. It usually left him on the back foot for qualifying, so maybe it was Lando doing update tests?

He simply was a bit off... I wouldn’t called his performance “disappointing”, but definitely not stellar... He missed Q2 by an small margin and it isn’t like he was completely off the pace... He just didn’t nailed his lap.

According to Seidl, Norris had issues with the battery pack during Q1:

“Qualifying P7 and P16 obviously leaves us with mixed feelings. In all fairness to Lando, we had an issue with the battery pack which compromised his ability to get through to Q2 and his quali result overall. With Carlos, we got everything out of the car and he did a great job putting the laps together to secure a good starting position. We're still aiming to fight for points with both cars tomorrow and we’ve also seen the weather forecast, so we can expect an exciting race for the fans here in Germany”

Could explain why he was so slow in front of Albon, as it looked like he was clearly pushing. I'm hoping he doesn't get a penalty.

He was on a “fast lap” (although slower than his previous attempt)... He wasn’t on a cool down lap, therefore there shouldn’t be a penalty for blocking.

It’s the responsibility of the car behind in the queue to open a big enough gap to the car in front and Albon didn’t

Can't give someone a penalty for being on a hot lap, so there's no chance in my book.

Battery issue does explain the erratic times from Lando, hopefully its fixed for tomorrow. Keeping hope he can scrape into the points with some luck. As for Carlos, I think he's definitely in the fight for P5. Expecting Leclerc to come sailing through, so maybe P6 maximum. Vettel could struggle to do the same from the back, but wouldn't rule that out either. A nice sprinkle of rain would certainly spice things up!

Interesting that both Mclaren’s were so far away in the speed trap... Probably more downforce in the car? Hope it pays off tomorrow!

Norris was only 0.112s behind Sainz Q1 time. A bit harsh to call his performance disappointing, especially if he had some kind of problem.

I understand it’s raining now... I’m assuming the team would prefer a wet race?

We haven’t had a wet race so far this season, so it’s anyone guess how the car will perform in those conditions... Nevertheless, both Sainz and Norris are very capable in the rain and it could reward the team if they actually went for a “rain” setup (which in my opinion is something that Mercedes also favored given the gap to Alfa Romeo in qualifying).

I really hope it’s the case (that it rains) since it could create a very interesting race
