On their website feed, the fifth driver mentioned more resources are already allocated to next years car then this
This is understandable, by September 2/3 of the resources are allocated to next year by default (expect if you are in close battle for championship title)
Yeah, in my opinion they already secured 4th. Renault is nowhere.

Its too early to say, one or two DNF or bad weekends and some lucky result on the other side of the fence can change things pretty easily but if Mclaren manages to score good points tomorrow then I would say the chances of keeping that 4th in the WCC would be much much better especially with the fact that the type of tracks in the 2nd part of the season are more mid to high speed corners (except Singapore)

Row 4 locked in on a track that exposes McLarens biggest weakness?

I’d say that’s a really good job in quali.

It will be a fight for points tomorrow but a very well executed session.

I'd say ....it isn't there biggest weakness anymore!

Good result but like mentioned dissapointing gap to the front
yes big gap its why we must take risks in the concept of the next car to close the gap cause we are very far right now from the front
Exactly, Seidl said as much. The guys with talent need to be bold and make a real fist of it. Finding 1.5secs will be extremely tough, but as long as there is a clear indication of the gap reducing, then they can be optimistic when the rules are reset for 2021.
I think the goal for next year is to get enough points ahead of the midfield so they can switch to 2021 in May-June.

If Mclaren are so good as they say from the chasis side, they should do as Red Bull - finishing ahead of them( Renault) and taking occasionally victories.
TROLL ALERT!

They have realised from last season they are no near as good as RedBull and that they wont be for quite some time. The problem is, that some people like you still didnt get the memo.

PS: So far they are ahead of Renault.

PPS: Victories are far from reach - another thing they have found out, pointed out and admited.

What worries me the most for tomorrow is the start and the mechnical side. Daniel lost his engine in Germany, Norris had problems and Sainz had to change the engine and put the extra mileage on the race engine...There is a big possibility of a retiremnt tomorrow for atleast one of them.

Hi diffuser, it would be great if they have started to remedy the low speed corners, however where would you say they currently lack performance in terms of making the jump towards the top 3 teams?

True. but its hard to pass here so hopefully they can push for a few laps, get past Gasly and consolidate position without pushing the engine too hard for the rest of the race.

There is still a gap to the top 3 (+-1.2 sec) but Red Bull gained 0,5 sec over Mercedes in half a Season, that should show what is possible. And on some occasions there is big potential to see. Very good Season so far. Keep it up!

Do you think Renault would have refused the engine-deal if they would have known McLaren will be that good this year?
I really believe Renault thought, now that RB is gone, their team, the factory team, will shine. Based on McLarens results in previous years, it was a fair assumption. But as we see now, Renault has failed again.
Do you think this could be a problem in the future (in terms of PU-performance or upgrades, i.e. Renault is trying or changing the whole focus on it's own team)?

still its trolling

I myself didn't like it either how they (Alonso) threated Honda, but in some way they were bad when they returned to F1... so the complaints were correct and right but the way it was given by Alonso was disrespectfull...
and what you doing is trolling .... so cut it and leave it be

I have zero worries over their starts, they have been consistently one of the best off the line this season. Their traction is excellent, and the Renault engine seems to allow them to maximise it. But you're right, reliability issues have been creeping back into the Renault PUs, hopefully a good start allows them to sail off and control their pace, ala Paul Ricard.
