Ferrari SF1000

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Is it a twin outlet s-duct??
Looks like there's an outlet right on top of the 5 and another one higher up where the nose meets the chassis
It seems the (sorry, livery, but) 5 is on a glossy patch, that ends just above it - I think that's what you might be seeing, with above that real the S-duct that uses the well known trick which enables the hole to be there at the nose/chassis boundary.

One of two things (or maybe a combination)...

1. This has a lot of parts on from 2019 on purpose to not give the game away.

2. Ferrari has sensibly decided they will not beat Mercedes in 2020 now their engine trick has been found out, so focus on 2021 and sacrifice 2020.

As a long term battle plan number 2 would actually be sensible and the option I'd go for.
you should do stand-up comedy

It's clear Ferrari is focused on 2020 just as much as for 2021, the car clearly has a lot of changes compared to 2019, you don't do that if you've thrown the towel in the ring and settle for nr2. That's not Ferrari's philosophy at all anyway.

As for the endless 'engine bashing'; the fact remains we remain clueless. It's pretty ignorant too to forget Ferrari was competitive all through the first half of the season just as much, except that it seems they went a bit backwards in upgrades that did not work untill making back the jump after the summer break. If anything, that brings a certain hope that they have learned a lot from last season and will be more competitive for 2020.

But honestly, settle for 2nd? yeah right

I thought from the launch film there was an outlet just above the 5. But looking back the matte paint around the number meeting the gloss again has confused my eyes

The cheapest sort of pride is national pride, every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud adopts, as a last resource, pride in the nation to which he belongs; thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.

A good needed addition are the viking horns, they will clean up the airflow to the rear wing and will also help increase stability under yaw and pitch.
I think these devices help with the off-throttle airflow from the air intake. When on throttle, air is pulled in to the intake, obviously, but when the throttle is lifted the "left over" air spills around the intake and back on to the rear wing. This can give a moment's instability. The horns help to create cleaner flow. I bet this is an attempt to help Seb and his preference for a solid rear end under braking.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Small notes. T-wing looks to have been taken straight from Mercedes, almost a carbon copy. And the wastegate outlet looks to be remaining the same as the SF90, not going the Red Bull way as was tested at the end of last year

Not sure why so many people are still discussing the “engine trick” from last year, given that it’s been analysed and debunked by various sources.

I keep seeing "Extreme POU" solution and the usual arrow pointing at the ball joint looking part of the front suspension, can someone simplify it for me, why is the Ferrari solution extreme? And how does this 'ball joint' looking element aid handling?

The joint is far away from the hub, which means that when turning, the front "squats" lowering the front, and making the front wing more efficient because of ground effect.
That's how I understand it

So Ferrari finally updated the front suspension to have an offset? There is also the third element?
