That’s good to know.
I guess in this world of mitigation, if someone just makes a small error and slightly crosses the line with minimal advantage then a 5 second penalty is worthy

Yes, it's fishy that a driver gets a meaningless 5s post-race penalty for crossing the pitlane line. The in-race penalty for that is a drive through which equates to a post-race 20s time penalty.
That is actually not what I meant, but ok ;)
I know you meant a certain other driver, but funnily enough certain other drivers get away with things too.
No. As nicely outlined by other posters your example is just nonsense.

Why Sainz and Lawson did not get penalties for moving under braking while defending?
I assume the Lawson instance was defending against Max on lap 1? (As I understand it the incident with Gasly which ended his race a few laps later was due to a technical issue.) Is that why he was told to give the place back, to avoid a potential penalty for that?

I haven't seen a (full) video from Lawson's onboard perspective, this is the only video I've seen other than the TV feed, and it only shows Lawson right before he turns in for the corner.

The only one I thought looked sus was Leclerc re-passing Oscar after a mistake running wide. Although he may have had extra deployment available it seemed unnatural to speed past like he did following an error such as that.

Considering he was offline and had lost momentum.

More than just a particular penalty are gotten away with and have been for years.

So once your example proves wrong we are back to feelings?

If a driver has slightly different style on the throttle he will be penalized by the ERS. Albon had lost 4 tenths to superclipping because he was a bit more aggressive on the throttle than Sainz

Makes you wonder about these set of regulations!!

Looks like a lot of BS...

The meltdown in Mexico of Ver was a completely different thing. This is just a mix of different incidents.

The two situations shown in Miami are simply poor defense. Both Sainz and Lawson tried some movement under braking to save the situation, but made everything worse:
- Law turned in on Ver in the end. I think the touch was the trigger to let this go, because otherwise with moving under braking and causing a collision this would be a slam dunk pen.
- Sai just brought himself into an bad position. Although braking early he did not get the car stopped well and did not have the chance to fight anymore. If he would have stayed more to the right under braking, Verstappen would have outbraked himself...

They essentially just duped Lawson. Pretended that it was necessary, when it was just a team order in disguise.

exactly, and people really think Antonelli riped into something special out of nowhere. He is just lucky with the algos.
