That’s good to know.
I guess in this world of mitigation, if someone just makes a small error and slightly crosses the line with minimal advantage then a 5 second penalty is worthy
No. As nicely outlined by other posters your example is just nonsense.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑06 May 2026, 00:34I know you meant a certain other driver, but funnily enough certain other drivers get away with things too.basti313 wrote: ↑05 May 2026, 15:23That is actually not what I meant, but okJust_a_fan wrote: ↑05 May 2026, 08:17
Yes, it's fishy that a driver gets a meaningless 5s post-race penalty for crossing the pitlane line. The in-race penalty for that is a drive through which equates to a post-race 20s time penalty.![]()
I assume the Lawson instance was defending against Max on lap 1? (As I understand it the incident with Gasly which ended his race a few laps later was due to a technical issue.) Is that why he was told to give the place back, to avoid a potential penalty for that?
The only one I thought looked sus was Leclerc re-passing Oscar after a mistake running wide. Although he may have had extra deployment available it seemed unnatural to speed past like he did following an error such as that.PlatinumZealot wrote:What do you guys think of the yoyo effect in Miami?
More than just a particular penalty are gotten away with and have been for years.basti313 wrote: ↑06 May 2026, 17:49No. As nicely outlined by other posters your example is just nonsense.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑06 May 2026, 00:34I know you meant a certain other driver, but funnily enough certain other drivers get away with things too.
So once your example proves wrong we are back to feelings?Just_a_fan wrote: ↑07 May 2026, 08:03More than just a particular penalty are gotten away with and have been for years.basti313 wrote: ↑06 May 2026, 17:49No. As nicely outlined by other posters your example is just nonsense.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑06 May 2026, 00:34

I haven't seen a (full) video from Lawson's onboard perspective, this is the only video I've seen other than the TV feed, and it only shows Lawson right before he turns in for the corner.

Looks like a lot of BS...FW17 wrote: ↑07 May 2026, 14:25https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZW0vpTPcqUrbirules wrote: ↑06 May 2026, 20:46I assume the Lawson instance was defending against Max on lap 1? They essentially just duped Lawson. Pretended that it was necessary, when it was just a team order in disguise.rbirules wrote: ↑06 May 2026, 20:46I assume the Lawson instance was defending against Max on lap 1? exactly, and people really think Antonelli riped into something special out of nowhere. He is just lucky with the algos.PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑07 May 2026, 13:05If a driver has slightly different style on the throttle he will be penalized by the ERS. Albon had lost 4 tenths to superclipping because he was a bit more aggressive on the throttle than Sainz
